The Little Mix singer recounted the one date they had, saying:
“We went on one date when we were like 16 or something. He had just been put in a band, and it was really funny because we kept in touch.”
But as Styles' career started to take off, things changed, Thirlwall laughed and revealed:
“The minute they went on live shows, he didn’t message me back.”
Thirlwall said with a laugh:
"I thought, 'That's it now. He's gone, he's made it,'" as Harry Styles, went on to become a global icon as a member of One Direction alongside, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson.
The following year, Jade Thirlwall also went on to become a global icon as her group, Little Mix went on to win The X Factor. Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock were the other members of the band Little Mix.
Thirlwall also went on to reveal that she was surprised when Styles apologized for ghosting her when she ran into him backstage when One Direction was invited to perform on The X Factor. She said:
“I saw him in a room after, and he was like, ‘I’m really sorry that I ignored you.”
She went on to say:
“I was so young; it didn’t really matter. He was always very, very lovely.”
Thirlwall laughed at podcast host, Louis Theroux's comment when he joked:
“He ghosted you.”
Jade Thirlwall: First Date to Fame
Despite everything that has happened between the two, Jade Thirlwall holds no grudges against Harry Styles, saying:
“He’s gotten himself where he is because he’s very talented. He’s very lovely, very charming.”
To which Theroux teased that Styles might listen as he's a friend of the show.
Jade Thirlwall and Harry Styles weren't the only couples from Little Mix and One Direction. Zayn Malik dated Perrie Edwards for four years until their breakup in 2015.
Other topics related to Jade Thirlwall's career were also discussed, such as her former band member Jesy Nelson's 2020 departure from the group. She went on to say:
“I will never begrudge Jesy wanting to leave because if she needed to do that for herself, no matter what happened behind the scenes, I’ll never discredit or invalidate the struggles she had in the group.”
She spoke about Jesy being trolled from the very beginning, she said:
“She really did suffer the most in terms of trolling, the press being really mean, all of that stuff. It did some lasting damage.”
Thirlwall emphasised that despite the difficulties, the group always made an effort to help each other in any way possible, even if they lacked the resources to deal with such problems when they were younger.
