Sabrina Carpenter’s Austin City Limits 2025 performance on October 4 featured a headline-making moment involving Stranger Things actor Joe Keery. As reported by Decider, Joe Keery, who performs under the name Djo, was pulled into Carpenter’s ongoing “cuffing season” bit just before her song “Juno.” The singer, known for using pink fluffy handcuffs as part of her act, playfully “cuffed” Joe Keery, drawing loud cheers from the audience.

Viral Pop Culture later shared the clip on Instagram, writing:

"Sabrina Carpenter arrested Joe Keery at her show and the moment instantly went viral, they’re now also following each other on Instagram."

The post quickly gained traction, sparking a wave of fan reactions and lighthearted speculation online.

"They'd be a cute couple," commented ptitgarsdevs.
"This is so cute," shared privieira.30.
"Now we need a collab between Sabrina and Djo," added esliechanti.

Within hours, the comments section turned into a full-blown fan celebration.

Fans caught the viral moment between Sabrina Carpenter and Joe Keery, and of course, it spread fast. In a fan video uploaded to X (formerly Twitter), Carpenter was seen asking Joe Keery his name and where he was from. When Joe Keery said “Boston,” she laughed and said it “sounds a lot like Austin.”

Without missing a beat, she told him,

“Joe, it’s actually cuffing season. I don’t know if you know that.”

Joe Keery immediately held up his wrists, playing along, which made Carpenter laugh even harder.

“You seem very eager actually. This is so rare. You’re the one. We did it, Joe,” she shared.

Decider later noted that this was part of Carpenter’s now-famous “cuffing season” routine, a recurring segment she started during her Short n’ Sweet Tour in 2024. The bit usually happens right before “Juno,” with previous guests like Millie Bobby Brown, Ayo Edebiri, and TWICE members Jihyo, Momo, and Sana all taking part. Joe Keery was the latest to join the lineup, and possibly the most enthusiastic.

Sabrina Carpenter’s romantic life had always caught public attention, long before her new album Short n’ Sweet laid it all bare. The singer and actress had experienced love stories with Disney co-stars, relationships that turned into songs, and heartbreaks that were, as she put it, short and sweet.

During her chat with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, Carpenter revealed that the title wasn’t about her “vertically challenged” height.

“I thought about some of these relationships and how some of them were the shortest I’ve ever had, and they affected me the most,” she explained.

As noted by Elle, fans connected several of the album’s lyrics to her on-and-off relationship with Barry Keoghan and to her former partner Shawn Mendes. At present, Carpenter is identified as single. Still, she hadn’t lost her humor about love. During a December performance of “Slim Pickins” at Jack Antonoff’s The Ally Coalition’s 10th Annual Talent Show, she introduced the song with a wink:

“It’s sort of about the saying of when they say there’s plenty of fish in the sea and how that’s a big fat lie, I think. It’s not so pessimistic, but this song sure is.”

Sabrina Carpenter finds freedom in Wit and truth in laughter:

After Man’s Best Friend dropped, Sabrina Carpenter sat down with Vogue Italia and spoke with the kind of honesty fans have come to expect, this time about men, and how she’s learned to handle them.

“I do think that men have been a super entertaining species to watch, In positive and negative ways. I feel really adored and inspired and loved by some of them...and really confused and attacked and ridiculed by others,” she shared.

She turned that observation into humor, describing how women often find themselves “training” men.

“When one of my female friends announces that she’s having a son, I just rejoice for that young boy. Because I know he’s going to be raised right,” she quipped. “Correct me if I’m wrong, I’ve only been on Earth for 26 years, but I feel like we’ve always kind of had to train them. Unfortunately, it’s a tale as old as time,” she shared.

Carpenter said wit had always been her armor, something that allowed her to say what others might not.

“Part of life is making light of moments that maybe make us uncomfortable, or at least, that is for me, my whole life I felt like humor was just this, and it wasn’t even always humor, I think it was usually just sort of a wit that kind of saved me. It was always there to make sure that at the end of the day I was protecting myself for the future,” she explained.

Whether sharing her thoughts on love or playfully arresting Joe Keery during her show, Sabrina Carpenter continues to blur the line between real-life romance and performance art. And for fans watching both unfold, it’s a reminder that she’s just as sharp and funny, offstage as she is on it.
