Stand-up comic Jim Gaffigan likes performing in Vancouver. As reported by CTV News, the comedian expressed his thoughts on experiencing a shift in the vibe of Canadians as to what they feel for their neighbors while he was recently performing in the city.

On a recent episode of the comedy podcast We Might Be Drunk (hosted by Mark Normand and Sam Morril), the comic recalled his time at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, where he performed between April 3 - April 5.

While discussing the topic of Canadians being angry with the U.S., Gaffigan went through a bit he performs about a reference to a serial killer, with a dog that tells him to shoot the president to impress a girl, and how different audiences react to the same joke. He further says that the Canadians have become less forgiving.

"Now the Canadians are like ,'We hate you. They're furious'."

The comedian mentions earlier, although the Europeans and English are usually condescending while reacting to the same bit, Canadians have always had his back, further explaining that they could separate the comic from the government and government policies.

Gaffigan recalled going to an Irish bar in Vancouver to have bourbon, but the establishment refused to sell any American whiskey. Sam Morill, Mark Normand, and Gaffigan further mention the new tariffs imposed by President Trump.

“I like bourbon, and so I’m like, ‘alright I’m gonna get a bourbon’—no bourbon. I go, ‘this is a world whisky bar’ and they’re like, ‘no we’re not selling any American whiskey.’ And I go, ‘so did you get rid of it?’ and they’re like, ‘oh it’s back there, we’re just not selling it."

Gaffigan went back to his hotel, which was owned by an American company and had bourbon over there. Sam Morill, Mark Normand, and Gaffigan further discussed what comedians think about trade tariffs between the U.S. and Canada.

Gaffigan has spent time in Vancouver. He also took to Instagram and posted about how he had spent three months in the city with a video of him joking about the rain and weather of the city.
