Tracy Ifeachor's rep has confirmed that the actress was not fired from HBO's The Pitt, but was let go since her character, Dr. Heather Collins, would not be returning in the show's upcoming season. In a July 12 statement to The Mirror US, Tracy Ifeachor's rep said:
"Tracy was not fired. Dr. Heather Collins was simply not written in as part of Season 2, which is a creative decision that has been confirmed by HBO."
Earlier, sources confirmed to TVLine that Tracy would not be returning to the series due to the show's creative decision, and it was not the actress' choice to leave the drama. Ifeachor took to Instagram to big goodbye to her character, saying:
"It was an absolute privilege to play Dr. Heather Collins in such a groundbreaking season and piece. Thank you to everyone who has watched & supported Season 1 & shared their stories with me."
"This gossip could not be further from the truth," says Tracy Ifeachor's rep
After news about Tracy Ifeachor's exit ahead of The Pitt season 2 was announced, rumors about Tracy being fired for allegedly being a member of London's evangelical mega church that performs "gay exorcisms" made waves online. While debunking the rumors, her rep said:
"Furthermore, any rumors about Tracy participating in any discrimination through her religion are completely incorrect, defamatory, and hurtful. This gossip could not be further from the truth. She is a woman who leads with love, kindness, and compassion, and as her very gay publicist, I can say that I see this daily, firsthand."
Tracy Ifeachor has been vocal about her being a practicing Christian. While speaking to BBC One in November 2021, Ifeachor opened up about her faith and said:
"My faith has made me the person I was always meant to be."
The actress opened up about her Nigerian upbringing and said:
"God has always been a part of our value system."
The actress also added that growing up in Plymouth, she would go "on and off" to the Church but didn't feel a connection, since there was "nobody there who looked like me." The actress voiced that she didn't feel "very accepted" in the church.
However, after graduating from drama school, the actress joined the Royal Shakespeare Company and began praying for a "new direction."
The actress went to Holy Trinity Brompton in London, and it was here that she decided that she would "want to give my life to Jesus."
