“This season is really for me”- Jennifer Hudson highlights the importance of taking meaningful breaks

Multihyphenate entertainer and EGOT recipient Jennifer Kate Hudson, commonly known by her nickname J. Hud, opened up to People in an exclusive interview about a new campaign collaboration with HomeGoods. The Framingham, Massachusetts-based home furnishing store chain launched its Finding Time Out campaign with Hudson. The 43-year-old singer and actress discussed the campaign while sharing what it means to her.

Declared by Time in 2020 as one of the 100 most influential people in the world, J. Hud is one of those few artists who became the youngest woman and the third African-American personality to win all four significant American entertainment awards, including an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award. In short, it is called EGOT.

Hudson began the conversation with People about the HomeGoods campaign by saying:

"I'm a HomeGoods girl. It's a place where I find my time for me and I pass almost every day coming from work."

The Voice and American Idol judge, Hudson, regarding the HomeGoods campaign, talked about the importance of taking time off. While she revealed that her usual time off means going to a concert or dinner, however, she claimed it is basketball, which is her number one preference at this point. The Respect star added:

"This year's about finding my time off. And so I'm splitting the difference. Because normally Jennifer got like four, five, six jobs at one time. But this season is really for me – about having quality time for myself."

The Dreamgirls actress, Hudson, who shares a son, David Daniel Otunga Jr., with her ex-fiancé, David Otunga, the former WWE wrestler, talked about balancing her life, as she mentioned being extremely busy the last year with her album and touring, and so on. This year, she has decided to take time out just for herself. J.Hud said:

"And so I'm balancing it out. I did a lot last year where I did the holiday album and the show at the same time, toured with it. So this year, this is all my time until I say I'm ready to do otherwise."

The Secret Life of Bees actress, Hudson, while talking about the HomeGoods stores, compared them to a candy shop. The popular stores that showcase a huge variety of products, ranging from furniture and bedding to home decor and picnic staples, have a way of making anyone comfortable, including Hudson herself. The singer/actress said:

"I dream about going in there every single time. And when I do get to go in, it is like a treasure. Like a candy store."

Hudson not only discussed the different types of products that are available at HomeGoods, but she also pointed out and mentioned the experience it provides to the people who shop there. It's about the time one spends there picking out things they want. J. Hud further added:

"It's just something about when you take time and you pick your things for yourself and then being able to put it in your space, it makes it feel that much more like home."
