Rapper Kodak Black received keys to Pompano Beach on July 8 in his hometown Florida, as per Florida Sun Sentinel. This comes after Black paid two months' rent for over 200 Pompano Beach residents for the second time in April 2025.
Pompano Beach mayor Rex Hardin called the rapper "an individual whose journey from these very streets to international acclaim has been remarkable, but whose heart never left this community." Black was born and raised in Pompano Beach.
A video posted by the CBS local news channel shows Kodak at the ceremony receiving the keys with a burst of applause. Mayor Rex Hardin acknowledged Black's contributions to his hometown, including donating air conditioning units to families in public housing, giving away turkeys during the holiday seasons, Christmas gifts, and bicycles to children, along with paying 2 months' rent for 200 Pompano families.

What has Kodak Black done for Pompano Beach?
Kodak Black, who hails from Pompano Beach, Florida, earlier in April 2025 helped over 200 Pompano Beach housing project residents by paying their rent for two months. Vince Thompson, a senior support manager at SLG Systems Inc., took to Facebook, to appreciate Black's efforts and said,
"He may not want the limelight, but for the 2nd month straight @kodakblack has paid the rent for over 200 residents in Golden Acres, the entire project! A lot of people shine light on the negativity. Imma see how many people share the positive things you do, fam. You're a Blessing to a lot of people. Thank you!"
This is not the first time Kodak Black has contributed to the Pompano Beach community. As per HipHopDX, Kodak paid outstanding rent for 28 families in 2022 and saved them from getting affected. At the time, Kodak Black took to his Instagram stories to announce his efforts saying,
"28 families was bout to get evicted for being behind on their rent a few months. I paid what they owed and also paid their rents for the next few months so they good for the remaining of the year."
While talking about how he feels about receiving the key, Black said he feels "wonderful" and "great."
