Actress Selma Blair is looking back at the filming of the iconic 2001 film, Legally Blonde. Blair played Vivian Kensington in the film starring Reese Witherspoon as Elle Woods, who, while attending Harvard law school, creates a special niche for herself despite being labelled too non-serious by those around her. Blair’s character, Vivian, and Reese’s Elle, become best friends over the course of the film after an initial conflict.
While speaking to People magazine about the widely loved film, which went on to define pop culture for years to come, Blair said,
“I can't believe so much time has gone by that we're now going like, 'Oh, 25 years ago.' It was Legally Blonde, Cruel Intentions, all those…Those all hold such happy memories, and happy memories that we can all agree on, and it is such a gift in my life that I was a part of those films.”
Blair also referred to her role in 1999’s Cruel Intentions, a film in which she shared the screen with Witherspoon before appearing in Legally Blonde together.

The prequel series of Legally Blonde, titled Elle, which chronicles the protagonist’s adventures in high school before making her way into Harvard, is currently in production. In April, Witherspoon, who is producing the prequel series, shared the first look of Lexi Minetree as the high school-going teenager, Elle.
When asked by People if Blair would be watching the series when it releases, the actress said,
“And I'll be watching. I love it all.”
Although Elle’s release date has not been set yet, Elle magazine notes that the series will most likely premiere in summer 2026.
Selma Blair recently shared a health update
Selma Blair, who had revealed a few years ago that she was suffering from multiple sclerosis, recently noted that she has had no relapse of the disease. Around a month ago, the actress had spoken to People and said,
"I am doing amazingly well. I've been feeling great for about a year. But I am finally well enough to really, genuinely ... I always try and feel my best, but now that I actually have stamina and energy and getting out and going out isn't so scary.”

Back in 2018, Blair had taken to Instagram to share her multiple sclerosis diagnosis with her fans and well-wishers. In a post on the social media platform, she wrote,
"So profound, it is, I have decided to share. The brilliant costumer #Allisaswanson not only designs the pieces #harperglass will wear on this new #Netflix show , but she carefully gets my legs in my pants, pulls my tops over my head, buttons my coats and offers her shoulder to steady myself. I have #multiplesclerosis . I am in an exacerbation.”
As per Deadline, the actress was referring to her appearance on Netflix’s Another Life. While noting her symptoms, the actress also expressed gratitude, and added on Instagram,
“By the grace of the lord, and will power and the understanding producers at Netflix , I have a job. A wonderful job. I am disabled. I fall sometimes. I drop things. My memory is foggy. And my left side is asking for directions from a broken gps. But we are doing it . And I laugh and I don’t know exactly what I will do precisely but I will do my best.”
In 2021, Selma Blair also spoke about her medical condition in detail in the documentary, Introducing, Selma Blair.
