The Odyssey marks the first time collaboration between Tom Holland and filmmaker Christopher Nolan. The epic fantasy action film is slated to be released by Universal Pictures on July 17, 2026. Written by Nolan, the film is co-produced by him with his wife Emma Thomas. It is an adaptation of Homer's epic Greek poem titled The Odyssey.
Holland, who has been shooting the film, recently spoke about his work experience with Nolan, whom he called a real collaborator. The British actor also called it the best script he has ever read.

Tom Holland has wrapped shooting for Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey. He spoke to Agence France-Presse, praising the script.
"The script is the best script I’ve ever read"
He further praised Nolan and said,
"[Nolan] is a real collaborator. He knows what he wants… but it is not an environment where you can’t pitch ideas or build characters in certain ways.”
Back in July, Holland spoke to GQ, where he praised the director. He noted,
“The best experience I’ve had on the film set. Incredible. It was exciting. It was different. And I think the movie is going to be unlike anything we’ve ever seen.”
He added,
“Working with Chris, getting to know him and Emma [Thomas] was absolutely fantastic. I’ve never seen someone that can work the way that they do, and there is a reason why they’re the best in the business for sure. To get a front row seat to that and to be a part of the process and to collaborate with a true master of his craft and learn from him was the best experience I’ve ever had.”
The Odyssey is about Odysseus, who is Ithaca's king, heading home after the Trojan War to his wife, Penelope. During his journey, he encounters several mythical figures like the Sirens, Circe, and the Cyclops Polyphemus.
