Popular American television host Jimmy Kimmel recently took a jab at Peyton and Eli Manning's musical performance, leaving audiences raising their eyebrows.
This happened while Kimmel delivered a monologue, which later turned into a roast at Disney's 2025 Upfront on May 13. Kimmel cracked a joke about the musical number performed by the former pro-athletes.
Kimmel took the stage to perform the last round of roasts before wrapping up the show. The roasts included jokes on rival networks such as NBC and CBS, and a comment on the opening number of the Mannings' brothers.
"I do wanna thank the Manning brothers for finally answering the question, 'What if two jars of mayonnaise could sing?'" Kimmel joked. "The answer is: they can't, and they shouldn't. That was worse than what the Menendez brothers did."
To this, the audience started groaning, and the comedian replied--
"Too soon or too late?" Kimmel said.
He further compared the performance of the brothers to that of Lyle and Erik Menendez. Kimmel said that the Manning brothers will sing another song if the advertisers do not give them more money.
"Ladies and gentlemen, here with another song, the Manning brothers." Kimmel joked as he ended his 12 minute comedy set. No song was played after the comment.
The Mannings were present at the event to promote their upcoming series titled Chad Powers. The series is inspired by Eli's character of the same name for his ESPN docuseries Eli's Places and stars Glenn Powell.
The Mannings started their show by performing their theme song, in which they inserted their last name into a few hit Disney shows. They highlighted Abbot Elementary, Paradise, and High Potential during their routine and used careful wordplay for carving out the song.
Actors like Sterling K. Brown, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and Kaitlin Olso--who have acted in the above-mentioned Disney shows joined the former athletes on stage and played along.
Apart from roasting the Mannings, Kimmel also took a jab at NBC and joked about the new network portfolio of NBCU network channels called Versant.
"Sounds like something you subscribed to by accident." Kimmel joked
He also roasted Disney CEO Bob Iger, who appeared at the beginning of the upfront presentation.
"This is my, I think, millionth upfront? I do it once a year like a prostate exam. But it's hard to say no when Bob Iger shows up. Bob Iger has passionately led Disney for 20 years and reluctantly for three."
About the Menendez Brothers
Lyle and Erik Menendez were convicted of killing their parents, Jose and Mary Louise Menendez, in the year 1989 at their Beverly Hills home.
While the two claimed that the killings were caused by unknown intruders, the police started investigating the case and grew suspicious of the two. Erik later confessed to the crime during a session with his psychologist. The brothers said the murders were due to being frustrated with their controlling parents and facing sexual harassment from their father.
After the first trial, the two were charged with first-degree murder and were sentenced to life imprisonment with no chance of parole.
On May 13, 2025, the Menedez brothers were resentenced to 50 years of imprisonment, which made them eligible for parole.
