Kelly Ripa has adjusted well to her current phase of life amidst all the constant changes ahead. The former actress, who has three children with her husband Mark Consuelos, is now an empty nester and shared her advice on the subject with Amanda Peet during the most recent episode of Live with Kelly and Mark. Peet was emotional when discussing her eldest daughter leaving for university in the fall "on the opposite coast". Ripa then seized the opportunity to share her outlook,
“Let me just say this. The first one is like a bit of a shock. Each one, like the second one, is like, no big deal. Third one, for 24 to 48 hours, you’re gonna be like, ‘Oh my gosh, what have we done now? Now it’s just us.’ And then your entire life becomes nudity in the household wherever you want. Total freak show all the time.”
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos - A picture-perfect family
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos met on the set of the iconic soap, All My Children, in 1995 and got married the following year. They have two sons, Michael, 27, and Joaquin, 22, along with a daughter, Lola, 23. Joaquin recently graduated from the University of Michigan. Ripa confirmed the news on an earlier episode of the couple's talk show,
“Anyway, we just returned from Ann Arbor, Michigan, where our newborn baby graduated university. That’s right, we’re done!”
Consuelos shared that speaking with the other parents who were gathered for the days-long celebration eased their concerns about not knowing what to expect from the elaborate setup.
“What was interesting was that in talking to the other parents, we realized we weren’t alone. Because there’s a bunch of information that parents need. Like, what time is this? Where do you need to be?”
Interestingly, on April 1, "Live with Kelly and Mark" aired its final episode from its original home. After 37 years and a wealth of history, the show moved from its Upper West Side studio to a new downtown location.
This marked the end of an era, along with the relocation from a place that was like a second home for the couple's children, who practically grew up on set (Kelly Ripa began co-hosting the show alongside Regis Philbin in 2001). Hopefully, the new experiences this shift will bring will be as rewarding for the couple as those they have had in the past, whose genuine bond has allowed them to endure as a unit over time.
