Businessman and social media personality Dave Portnoy has his reservations about Beyonce. On December 25, 2024, the singer performed at the Superbowl halftime show. This was the first time the singer performed songs from her Grammy-nominated album Cowboy Carter.
Portnoy, who is reportedly a Taylor Swift fan, mentioned that he was not too impressed by Beyonce’s performance during the halftime show. Taking to X on December 26, 2024, he wrote that the Crazy in Love singer has been ‘lost’ after leaving the girl group Destiny’s Child in 2005. She formed the band in 1990 with her childhood friends Portnoy wrote:
“Beyoncé has been LOST since Destinys Child.”
Dave Portnoy claimed so while resharing an old tweet from February 2023, in which he compared Beyonce and Rihanna, stating the latter was better. However, internet users had both differing and similar reactions to Portnoy’s post as one X user claimed:
“Beyoncé totally changed after marrying Jay-z.”
Many social media users agreed with Dave Portnoy’s statement and backlashed the singer.
“She’s never been the same since she had the supporting cast I still can’t believe how she plays the victim card,” another X user stated.
“She was lost before then, never cared for the music but was always TOLD I was weird for not liking it!” an internet user commented.

A section of X users stood in Beyonce’s defense as they said it was the best halftime show.
“Best halftime show ever. Taylor could neva!” a social media user opined.
“bad take. she crushed it. you lack objectivity or have horrible taste,” a person pointed out on X.
“Why must we pit two queens against each other?” a netizen suggested.
“wtf that was legendary. Beautiful performance and production,” an online commentator mentioned.
Dave Portnoy once said Beyonce did not deserve any award for her album Renaissance
In a February 2023 episode of the BFFs podcast which is hosted by Dave Portnoy, Josh Richards, and Bri Chickenfry, Portnoy began with the recap that Beyonce broke the record for the most number of Grammy’s won by an artist. He mentioned that the singer arrived late for the Grammy’s show and missed her first award because she was stuck in traffic, which called the episode a ‘flex.’
She won the best dance and electronic album of the year in 2023 for Renaissance, which was her seventh studio album. Josh Richards mentioned that it was not a popular album as it did not do well. Bri said she was confused about why it even won the award, to which Dave Portnoy suggested that it was merely because of her name.
After a while, the hit track Break My Soul from the album starts playing. Dave Portnoy said he heard the song although he couldn’t recognize it. He mentioned he was confused about how it won the award as he felt it should not have won any award like Emmy or Oscar. Yet, he said, it still won the Grammy.
