Travis Kelce’s brother recalls the first time he met Taylor Swift

Jason Kelce is not known for his subtlety—and the first time he met Taylor Swift was no exception. The former Philadelphia Eagles center shared the hilarious memory on the July 23 episode of New Heights, the podcast he co-hosts with his younger brother, Travis Kelce. Let’s just say it involved zero shirts and maximum chaos.

The meeting took place during the Kansas City Chiefs' AFC Divisional Playoff game against the Buffalo Bills on Jan. 21, 2024. Jason, attending the game to support Travis, got caught up in the intensity of the moment and, quite literally, lost his shirt—while Taylor sat just feet away.

“The first time I met your girlfriend, so that was, it was an all timer,” Jason said.

As the brothers rewatched a viral video of Travis Kelce shirtless and screaming with a beer in hand, Travis joked,

“Do you understand how proud I am to be the reason that you did this ridiculous pose? I feel so seen. This is what my dream was—always to make human beings do.”

Jason laughed, explaining that it was

“combined with drinking for an entire six hours with Bills Mafia before the game got me real excited.”

“This is part of the Jason Kelce charm.”

Jason also revealed that his wife, Kylie Kelce, wasn’t exactly thrilled about the whole thing.

“I don't think she was happy about it, to be honest with you,” he said. “I gave Kylie a heads-up the moment we got into the suite. And she said, ‘Jason don't you dare.’”

But in classic Kelce fashion, he had already made up his mind.

“I was like, ‘Kylie, when I met you, the first day I met you I was black-out drunk and fell asleep at the bar. This is part of the charm. This is part of the Jason Kelce charm.’”

And while Kylie warned him to be on his best behavior because they were “meeting Taylor,” Jason made it clear he wasn’t asking for permission.

“I remember saying, ‘I’m not asking for permission. I’m doing this.’” Travis Kelce, fully supportive, chimed in with a laugh: “Once a Kelce man’s determined, there’s no f------ stopping him.”

Since that unforgettable intro, Taylor Swift has become a frequent presence in Travis Kelce’s world—and by extension, Jason’s too. Jason confirmed that the Grammy winner had met the newest member of the Kelce family earlier this year.

“She has. We were fortunate to have them all [visit],” he told Entertainment Tonight in May. “It doesn't happen often, everybody's busy. But it was really special.”
