James Brolin is siding with Justin Baldoni in the latter's legal tussle with It Ends With Us co-star Blake Lively.

During a recent interview with People magazine, the 84-year-old actor-director opened up about working with Baldoni in the 2011 short film Royal Reunion, which he directed and acted in.

"He asked so many questions, he was so helpful," he said of Baldoni. "But I didn't realize he was learning, because very soon after that, this guy's directing his own stuff."

He went on,

"I'm so proud of Justin Baldoni because God, he's written two wonderful books on being a man and being courteous and teaching boys not to fear their fears — and now he's directed three movies. He started off with one episode of Jane the Virgin and now he's directed three pictures and written two books and does TED talks to help people."

As for what he had to say about Baldoni and Lively's legal struggles, James Brolin is just wishing for the best.

"I don't understand what's going on right now, but I hope it works out."

As reported by The Daily Mail, several stars in Hollywood have sided with Blake Lively, including her Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants co-stars America Ferrera, Amber Tamblyn, and Alexis Bledel. Furthermore, Amber Heard, Amy Schumer, Shawn Levy, Paul Feig, Jenny Slate, and more have all jumped to her defense.

Variety reported two days ago that a judge's ruling was in Lively's favor on Monday, allowing her to set the deposition location to her choosing. Her lawyers contended that Baldoni's legal counsel was trying to turn the lawsuit into a public spectacle.

Lively is scheduled for a deposition in New York this Thursday. Per Variety, Baldoni's lawyers were keen on holding the session in Park Avenue, at Meister Seelig & Fein's offices. However, Lively's lawyers accused Baldoni and his team of trying to set up an ambush by the paparazzi, as well as inviting influencers to watch in on the confidential proceedings.
