Vice Principals star Kimberly Hébert Gregory has reportedly died at the age of 52.
Gregory's ex-husband, actor-singer Chestor Gregory, confirmed her demise in a post on Instagram:
“You were brilliance embodied, a Black woman whose mind lit every room, whose presence carried both fire and grace,” he said. “You taught us lessons in courage, in artistry, in resilience, and in how to keep showing up, even when life demanded more than its share.”
She died on Friday, October 3. Her cause of death currently remains unclear.

Per Deadline, Kimberly Hébert Gregory was born on December 7, 1972, in Houston. She graduated from a performing arts high school before earning a bachelor's degree in psychology. She later enrolled at the University of Chicago, where she earned a master’s in social work.
Per the outlet, around this time, she was featured in several productions for the Chicago Theatre Company, where her future ex-husband also worked. She earned her first film credit in 2007 for I Think I Love My Wife, starring Chris Rock, Kerry Washington, and Gina Torres.
In the years since then, she amassed several credits across television, including episodes in Gossip Girl, New Amsterdam, Private Practice, Two and a Half Men, Law & Order, Shameless, The Big Bang Theory, Grey’s Anatomy, The Act, Dollface, and All Rise and Barry, among others. She was also featured on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Better Call Saul and The Chi.
In the HBO series Vice Principals, Kimberly Hébert Gregory portrayed Dr. Belinda Brown, the newly appointed principal at the North Jackson High School. The show debuted in 2016 and ran for two seasons. Walton Goggins, a co-creator of the series, took to Instagram on Saturday to publicly mourn Gregory's demise:
“We lost one of the best yesterday… one of the best I’ve ever worked with. Kimberly Hébert Gregory,” he penned. “I had the honor… the good fortune of getting to know, getting to spend months working with this Queen on Vice Principals. She made me laugh like no other. A professionals professional. A gatdamn SOPRANO that never missed a note. You will be missed my friend. As much as you know."
Busy Phillips, who portrayed Gamby’s ex-wife on the show, also left a comment on the post that read as follows:
“Oh my god i’m devastated to hear this. She was a light and a force. She will be missed.”
Kimberly Hébert Gregory's last role on television was in “Craig of the Creek,” which debuted in 2018 and ran through January 2025.
