Yes, late actor Song Young-Kyu was married. As per a close associate's statement to the news outlet Chosun Biz, Song's wife ran a cafe business.

South Korean actor Song Young-Kyu was found dead in a vehicle in a housing complex in Cheoin-gu, Yongin, at 8 a.m. on August 4, as per Yongin Dongbu Police Station in Gyeonggi Province.

As per an acquaintance, the police, while confirming his death, reported that there were no allegations of murder or suicide. This comes weeks after Song was sent to the prosecution for drunk driving.

Song Young-Kyu made his theatrical debut in 1994 with the children's musical Merutal Dosa. Song gained recognition for his role as Chief Choi in the 2019 box-office hit, Extreme Job, and bagged roles in dramas including Suriname and Casino. Song's acting career spanned three decades, in which he appeared in over 50 dramas and movies.

At the time of his death, Song was actively appearing in two South Korean television dramas: SBS's The Winning Try as Daesang High School rugby coach Kim Min Joong, and ENA's The Defects as Pastor Yoon Se Hoon.

More about Song Young-Kyu's death

Veteran South Korean actor Song Young-Kyu was involved in a drunk driving incident on June 19. As per police, Song drove approximately 5 kilometers from Giheung-gu to Cheoin-gu in Yongin intoxicated. He had a blood alcohol concentration of over 0.08%, a level high enough to warrant license revocation under South Korean law. He was sent for prosecution without detention and was removed from the stage production of Shakespeare in Love.

As per a source's statement to Chosun Biz, Song was living apart from his family:

"My brother had a lot of stress even outside of this (driving under the influence) incident. Including personal matters, it seems that the reduction in projects led to a vicious cycle. As the stress accumulated, it seems he turned to alcohol to forget the pain. It's very tragic since people around him advised against it."

Song Young-Kyu's wife ran a cafe business, which suffered losses as the economy worsened. The associate claimed that when he met Song last year, he was living apart from his wife and children in an officetel in Bundang.

The associate alleged that Song's drinking and driving incident occurred as he lived alone with a "sense of despair for the future."

Song Young-Kyu is scheduled to be buried on August 6, at 8 a.m. at Hambaeksan Memorial Park.
