Jessie J and Kate Middleton shared a heartfelt hug amid their shared struggles with cancer. The singer, 37, and the Princess of Wales, 43, attended the Royal Variety Performance at the Royal Albert Hall in London on the night of Wednesday, November 20. Prince William, 43, was also by Kate's side, marking the first time they were seen at an event since 2023. Jessie J was reportedly at the event to sing her song I’ll Never Know Why, which was inspired by a friend of hers who died by suicide. The songstress underwent surgery earlier this year after she was diagnosed with breast cancer in June 2024. As for Kate Middleton, she announced that she was diagnosed with cancer in March 2024, though earlier this year she announced she was in remission. At one point in the night, Jessie J hugged Kate, per The Independent. “Mum to mum, who has just recently gone through cancer, I just wanted to give her a hug,” Jessie later explained per the outlet. “We acknowledged that it’s something that is not easy to go through, especially in the public eye,” she added. According to GB News, she told Kate: "I just had breast cancer. I just want to give you a hug, cancer really puts life into perspective." "In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London, and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous," she said in the emotional video, adding that after undergoing several tests following the surgery, it was determined that "cancer had been present."
