During a June 6 episode of The Ringer's Every Single Album podcast, Miley Cyrus discussed where she was mentally while producing and releasing each of her iconic albums, including Bangerz, and Endless Summer Vacation.

The pop icon looked back at the time she was making her 2015 album, Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz, where she said using drugs was a "super important part" of her creative process at the time. Cyrus, who was 22 at the time, would try to hide the cost of the drugs from her accountant by calling them "vintage clothes",

"The drugs were the biggest cost. To hide those from my accountant, we called them 'vintage clothes.' And so she would get these checks of thousands of dollars' worth of vintage clothes."

When the account would ask her about the clothes, the singer would try to wave her off,

"And every time she saw me, she'd be like, "Where's that like $15,000 original John Lennon T-shirt that you bought?' It's like, 'Oh, it's upstairs. Would you like some?' So I bought a lot of 'vintage clothes' that year."

"I'm so glad I survived that time in my life" - Miley Cyrus looks back on substance use at 21

Miley Cyrus has publicly acknowledged her using substance in the 2010s. During a recent episode of the podcast, Every Single Album, Miley opened up about using drugs in 2015 as a part of her creative process and said,

"I'm so glad I survived that time in my life. I would definitely not encourage anyone else to go this hard, but the fact that I got through it, I'm very glad I got to do it."

Earlier in a 2013, Rolling Stone cover story, Miley detailed that she experiments with drugs, and revealed her favorite type of drugs,

"I think weed is the best drug on earth. One time I smoked a joint with peyote in it, and I saw a wolf howling at the moon. Hollywood is a coke town, but weed is so much better. And molly, too."

Miley was taped smoking salvia, in 2010, and explained that marijuana and molly are "happy" and "social" drugs that "make you want to be with your friends." Whereas, cocaine, is different,

"I really don't like coke. It's so gross and so dark. It's like what are you, from the '90s? Ew."

Miley eventually quit smoking marijuana in 2017, and drinking in 2020.
