"We just flow honestly" - Keith Powers reveals the secret to his relationship with Ryan Destiny

Actor Keith Powers recently opened up about his relationship with actress Ryan Destiny. During an appearance at the Cannes Film Festival on May 20, the actor spoke to People Magazine about his bond with his partner.

Powers revealed,

“It's just like we're so locked in and we just get each other's jokes and it's just easy. We just flow honestly.”

Sharing that Destiny, who appeared in The Fire Inside in 2024, has a huge impact on his artistry, Powers said:

“And she teaches me a lot. I don't know if I teach her stuff, but she teaches me so much. She's made me a better artist, so it's been great.”

While conceding that there are tough periods in their relationship, Powers, who appeared in Straight Outta Compton, stated,

“We could fight. We might not talk to each other for a minute. But we love each other. We come back. You know what I'm saying?…And I feel like for me and Ryan … it's like this is family. It's not a thing where [it’s like], ‘Oh, I didn't like [that] she did a certain thing and now I don't want to be in a relationship.”

Keith Powers and Ryan Destiny met each other in 2015 at a party, but they began a relationship with each other a bit later when they began talking and getting to know each other on the social media platform, Instagram, according to We The Urban magazine.

Speaking about how they fell in love, Destiny told We The Urban,

“We were just friends for a minute. So when we let things naturally happen, if you let it, love falls in naturally too…You see things differently. Want to be different. The best you for yourself. The best you for your other.”

Powers also spoke candidly with We The Urban about being in love with Destiny, and said,

“I realized I was in love when I knew my life would be extremely affected in a negative way if Ryan wasn’t in it. Loving someone is a very natural feeling that just happens. You can’t just wake up and SAY I love this person, you FEEL it. You realize like wow, this person is a piece of me and regardless you don’t ever want that person out of your life.”

Despite being a picture-perfect couple, Powers and Destiny split up in 2022, confirmed People Magazine at the time.

Early this year, though, People Magazine confirmed that the couple had found their way back to each other. Destiny confirmed that she was dating Powers again, and said,

“I just love him so much and I just appreciate him every step of the way. He's such a cheerleader for me, as I am for him. It just means everything. We're just best friends — you know, we're more than best friends.”

Sharing an endearing anecdote, Destiny revealed how much Powers supports her and shared that he had an emotional response to watching her in The Fire Inside, which is a biopic of Claressa Shields. She said,

"Yes, he did cry. That was really special. It made me emotional too. He's not a crier.”

As Keith Powers and Ryan Destiny’s recent appearance at Cannes affirms, the young couple seems to be going strong.
