The internet is weirded out by Eddie Murphy's recent comments about working on the ‘Dreamgirls’ set with Beyoncé and Jennifer Hudson.

During a recent episode of 360 With Speedy, Eddie Murphy recounted an awkward encounter he witnessed between the Halo singer and talk show host.

“I did Dreamgirls right when I was getting divorced,” he said, referencing his split from Nicole Murphy in 2005. “I was kind of like on automatic pilot, and I don’t remember a lot of making the movie.”

The 2006 film starred Beyoncé, Hudson, Anika Noni Rose, Jamie Foxx, and Danny Glover, and was based on the 1981 Broadway musical of the same name.

“My Beyoncé memory — and neither one of them knows that I know this — I watched Jennifer Hudson and Beyoncé, they were in between shots, they were on stage, and Jennifer was new in show business and she had, I guess a finger, right between, was ashy, and she was licking her fingers and getting the ash like that.”

He remembered Beyoncé saying, "Ooh girl, don’t do that. I’ll get you some cream." He also said that the moment between them passed, but he never forgot it.

“And this might be the first time I share that with anyone. That’s my Beyoncé memory.”

Fans have since reacted to the news with confusion, with many even saying there was no need for Eddie Murphy to share this memory.

"we did not need to know this"

See how the rest of X is reacting:

"All the stories you could’ve told and you told that one…" one user quipped.
"People in the comments like “omg why would Eddie Murphy tell this story” HE IS A COMEDIAN! Like hello? OF COURSE THAT WAS HIS FAVORITE MEMORY! Lmfaoooo," someone else chimed in.
"People getting mad that a comedian is making jokes is why comedians like him no longer do stand up comedy," one more defended him.
"I bet Jennifer planned to take that one to the grave," a fourth user jokingly speculated.

The comments didn't end there:

"Men can't keep secrets," one user dissed.
"………… this one could’ve been kept," another pointed out.
"Jennifer is gonna have some explaining to do on her show tomorrow lmaoooooooo," someone else jested.
"Out of all stories he could tell… " yet another noted.

While a few online had a laugh, a good number of users pointed out that Eddie Murphy didn't need to embarrass Jennifer Hudson like that. Others defended him, saying he was just doing his job as a comedian.

Eddie Murphy says Dreamgirls is one of his top four films: Read more

The legendary comedian sat down for an interview with Complex's Speedy Mormon just yesterday, where he opened up about some memorable moments from his career. When asked about his four greatest films, he said:

"Coming to America. The Nutty Professor. Shrek…it's like a bunch of joints." He continued, "If I say 48 Hrs., I can't say Trading Places."

In the end, he chose: Coming to America. Shrek. The Nutty Professor. 48 Hrs. However, he did think of throwing in Dreamgirls instead of 48 Hrs.

"I'll take 48 Hrs. off and put Dreamgirls on. 48 Hrs. is really good. But Dreamgirls, everybody can enjoy. But 48 Hrs. is a guy movie."

In the 2006 film, Beyoncé played Deena Jones, while Jennifer Hudson portrayed Effie White. The latter went on to win the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress at the 79th Academy Awards in 2007 for her role in the film, which received an impressive eight nominations on its own.

Regarding his four worst films, Eddie Murphy stated, without hesitation: Pluto Nash, Holy Man. Reflecting on Norbit, which received mixed reviews, he said:

"Norbit came out right after I got the Oscar nomination. So there were articles that were like, ‘How can he get an Oscar and he did this?’"

He continued, reflecting on how the Razzie Awards reacted to the film:

"When it came out, I got voted for Razzie's for the worst actor of the decade, worst actor, and worst actress. They gave me a Razzie for worst actress, worst actor, and worst actor of the decade. I was like, come on, man. Shit ain’t that bad." He continued, "But to this day, I like Norbit. There’s stuff in Norbit that makes me laugh."

Eddie Murphy's latest film, The Pickup, is currently streaming on Prime Video.

"The Pickup is about to come out on Amazon Prime video. It's a funny Eddie Murphy action comedy like the old joints, like the old days," the actor said of the project. "But the difference is like a movie like 48 hours. I was the young dude and it's the older guy. Now I'm the older guy. It's Pete Davidson as the young dude."

The film features several industry heavyweights, including "the wonderfully talented Kiki Palmer, Andrew Dice Clay, and Eva Longoria."
