Justin Trudeau's estranged wife Sophie Grégoire Trudeau has opened up about her ex's newfound romance with Katy Perry.

E! News has reported that the motivational speaker sat down for the November 12 episode of the Arlene Is Alone podcast, where she opened up about dealing with the former Canadian prime minister’s life in the spotlight. Sophie, who split up with the latter in 2023, said,

“We’re human beings and stuff affects us. How you react to stuff is your decision. So I choose to try to listen to the music instead of the noise.”

Host Arlene Dickinson pointed out “the publicness of what Justin is doing" as she referred to his romance with the pop star, 41, prompting Sophie to reply:

“I’m very aware that a lot of public stuff out there can be triggers. The woman I become through this is my decision.”

Sophie and Justin Trudeau share kids Xavier, 18, Ella-Grace, 16, and Hadrien, 11. As for Katy Perry, she shares Daisy Dove Bloom with her ex-boyfriend, Orlando Bloom.

People Magazine has reported that Justin Trudeau and Perry confirmed their romance just last month. Since then, a source told the outlet that the latter is "flattered" by the former politician's efforts to spend time with her while she's on the road for her Lifetimes World Tour, which continues till December.

"She's focused on her tour, and Justin has made a real effort to meet her where she is — literally," the source said. "She's flattered. He's shown that he's committed and really cares about spending time with her. It's clear that he values the connection, and so does Katy. She's in a great place."

The pair first sparked rumors of a romance in July, and by the following month, they were seen sharing a kiss on a yacht around Santa Barbara.

"Dating Justin is something she never saw coming, but she's really enjoying this surprising life twist," the source added, "and she loved it."

Another source told the outlet that the pair are making an effort to spend time with each other despite their hectic lifestyles:

“They both have busy schedules but make time for each other and have a really strong connection," the second source said. "Katy didn’t expect to fall for somebody so soon, but Justin checks all the boxes. He has a great sense of humor, he’s charming and treats her with respect.”

In her podcast appearance, Sophie Trudeau shed light on her co-parenting relationship with Justin Trudeau.

“I’m definitely not a single mom,” the 50-year-old emphasized. “I have a partnership with a father who has such deep love and availability to his children. We have separate lives, but we have one family life,” she continued. “You need a common, conscious decision of, ‘Our family is our greatest creation and we're going to feed it together, no matter if we're on different life paths.’ It’s not always easy to live,” Sophie added, “but it’s very adult.”
