"We’ve embraced Aydan with open arms" - Gigi and Bella Hadid introduce their half-sister Aydan Nix

Gigi and Bella Hadid are welcoming a surprise half-sister to the clan.

In a statement to the Daily Mail on May 29, the sisters, both supermodels, revealed that they found out they had a 23-year-old half sister back in 2023, Aydan Nix. She is the daughter of Mohammed Hadid and Terri Hatfie Dull. They further revealed in their statement,

"we've embraced Aydan with open arms."

Gigi and Bella Hadid, 30 and 28 years old respectively, told the outlet that Aydan was born of a "brief romance" their father had with Dull, shortly after he divorced their mother, Yolanda Hadid, in 2001. The statement reveals that Aydan was born and raised in Florida, "growing up with the man she lovingly knew as her father until his sudden passing when she was 19."

However, after her father's demise, Aydan Nix “decided to take a genetic test out of curiosity,” which is when she discovered how she was related to the Hadid clan.

Gigi and Bella Hadid's statement reads as follows:

“Over 20 years ago, our dad, while single, had a brief relationship that led to a pregnancy. Aydan was born and raised in Florida, growing up with the man she lovingly knew as her father until his sudden passing when she was 19."

After her adoptive father's passing, Aydan "took a genetic test out of curiosity", and through this test, found her connection to the Hadid sisters. The sisters further revealed in their statement,

“We first connected in late 2023, and from that moment on, we’ve embraced Aydan with open arms. She’s spent time with all of us, including our dad, and we’ve cherished this unexpected and beautiful addition to our family."

The statement continues,

“As siblings, we’ve had many open and loving conversations— with Aydan included —about how to support and protect her. Aydan and her family value their privacy, and we fully respect that. We kindly ask others to do the same and honor her wish and right to her anonymity as she continues her life as a young woman in New York,” the statement concluded.

Mohammed Hadid, a 76-year-old Palestinian real estate mogul, shares three children with Yolanda, a former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star: sisters Gigi and Bella, and son Anwar. He also shares two older daughters, Marielle and Alana, with his first ex-wife, Mary Butler.

The Daily Mail has reported that the patriarch's relationship with Teri Hartfield Dull ended before she was pregnant. Furthermore, it states that Hadid allegedly knew of his youngest daughter the entire time, but failed to provide her with child support.

The Mirror has reported that Aydan reached out to Gigi and Bella Hadid when she was studying abroad in Paris in 2024. The three siblings have since been spotted hanging out on several occasions and even follow each other on Instagram.

Per the outlet, Nix is an alum of Parsons School of Design in Manhattan, having graduated earlier this month. She earned a degree in Fine and Studio Arts, and also took to Instagram to celebrate the moment. One such photo showed her off in a black-and-white keffiyeh, which is a traditional Palestinian scarf.

The Daily Mail has also reported that Mohammed Hadid was supposed to attend her graduation, though he canceled a week in advance. A family source informed the outlet that he is cordial and respectful with his youngest, though there is slight tension between them.
