Singer and record producer Brian McKnight shared a self-recorded video on Instagram on October 16 about the court verdict in the case filed by his ex-wife, Julie McKnight. As understood from the caption, the verdict was in his favor, and he was awarded $808 million as compensation for damages and punitive damages. In the video, he said:
“It’s been a long journey getting to this day October 16th, 2025, but we are here in the English countryside about an hour and a half outside of London and the verdict is in. We’ve been quiet, listening to liars continue to lie and keeping to ourselves living and loving our life as we said leaving everything in God’s hands, letting our lawyer do the talking.”
Brian McKnight went on to say:
“But according to the courts trying to ruin my name and trying to bring harm to my family in a book filled with lies equals $8.8 million dollars and this is just the beginning because anyone and everyone that help promote these lies will hear from my lawyer in the days to come.”
According to Brian McKnight, nobody could harm them in any way. Referring to some voicemail, he said it was that of a liar. He also shared the audio of the voicemail, in which a woman, presumably Julie, was heard asking Brian not to reach out to their son, Niko, again. The woman also asked Brian’s present wife, Leilani, to follow the same. The woman said:
“Please understand and Brian you know me. You know me. And you know that I mean what I am saying to you.”
How did Brian McKnight react to his son Niko’s death?
Brian McKnight was married to Julie from 1990 to 2003. They have two sons, Niko and Brian Jr. The record producer also has other children from different relationships. Niko lost his life at the age of 32 after battling cancer for two years. The news of his death was shared by his uncle, Claude McKnight, in a TikTok video. He captioned it:
“I'm devastated at my nephews' passing. If you comment please do do in love, and NOT at what you may have heard about the relationship my brother had/has with his kids. Thank you.”
However, Brian McKnight seemed upset over the way the news came out. As seen in a reel posted on Instagram, He thanked Claude sarcastically for making what he felt was an inappropriate announcement about Niko’s death on TikTok.
He said Claude used the sad event for attention, turning a painful loss into something that felt like a reality show instead of letting Niko be remembered with respect. Speaking about Niko, Brian went on to say:
“The last time he and I spoke, we offered him all the help we could provide, we had the number one oncologist on deck for him and a team of specialists on standby with private care in our home. He and his mother declined. The door of communication was open and remained open until his death.”
Brian McKnight expressed that he hoped God would forgive the woman who referred to herself as “Mama Bear,” claiming that she prevented Niko from receiving the help and support he truly needed.
