Sex and the City alum Cynthia Nixon took to Instagram to condemn and ask for answers about the unexpected death of Jonathan Joss, who was shot to death on June 1, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. The 59-year-old Cynthia Nixon, on June 3, 2025, posted on her official Instagram handle about finding out that Joss had been killed. While she expressed how shocked and heartbroken she was to learn about Jonathan's uncertain death, Nixon demanded justice.
Jonathan Joss, who was of Native American ancestry, was 59 when he was fatally shot. He rose to fame after starring as Chief Ken Hotate in the popular sitcom Parks and Recreation and John Redcorn in King of the Hill. After the horrific incident took place, Jonathan's spouse, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, from Joss' official Facebook handle, shared a post revealing that he was right there when the True Grit actor was killed by their neighbor. Tristan also stated that the whole matter stemmed from homophobia.
Cynthia Nixon, as she mourned the loss of Jonathan, in her June 3 Instagram post, called him a "wonderfully talented actor and musician." She also addressed Joss' homophobic neighbors, who previously burned their house, and also mentioned the San Antonio Police Department, which claimed there is no evidence yet that proves this as a hate crime. The Ratched actress, Nixon, ended the post by saying:
"We will not let this stand."
