Houston Texans safety Jimmie Ward was arrested on the morning of Thursday, June 12, 2025, in Magnolia, Texas, following allegations of family violence. According to ABC News, he has been charged with assault family violence impeding breath/circulation.

Cops showed up at a house in a Magnolia neighborhood just after 4:30 a.m. to check out the reported incident. They started looking into what happened right away. According to a statement from the sheriff’s office, the alleged victim, identified as Ward’s fiancée, accused him of physical assault, strangulation, and making verbal threats. They then filed an emergency protective order.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office confirmed the arrest and stated that, under Texas law, the charge is classified as a third-degree felony.

After they arrested Ward, he ended up in the Montgomery County Jail but was released on a $30,000 bond. Jail records show he posted bail the same day.

The Houston Texans addressed the issue in a statement from Omar Majzoub, who heads the team's communications. He told ABC News,

"We are aware of the report involving Jimmie Ward. We are gathering information and have no further comment at this time."

The NFL briefly commented on the issue, saying,

"We are aware of the matter and have been in contact with the club," an NFL spokesman told ABC News. "We have no further comment at this time."

Jimmie Ward's career with the Texans and injury setbacks

James Ward plays safety for the Houston Texans in the NFL. He went to Northern Illinois and was part of the football team. The San Francisco 49ers picked him in the first round of the 2014 draft. Ward has been on the Texans for two years. In that time, he's played 20 games, grabbed three interceptions, and scored a touchdown.

Injuries have had a big effect on Jimmie Ward's recent seasons. The Texans put him on injured reserve on August 31, 2022. He came back to play on October 8.

During the 2023 season, Ward missed the first two games due to a hip injury and later sat out three more games because of a hamstring issue. He was ultimately placed on injured reserve again on December 26, 2023. In 2024, despite starting 10 games for the Houston Texans, his season was cut short once more when it was announced on December 23 that he would miss the rest of the season due to a foot injury. He's set to play his last year under this deal in 2025 before becoming a free agent in 2026.

Jimmie Ward and his team haven't spoken out about the claims. When reporters reached out to Ward's agent, they chose not to comment. The investigation is still ongoing, and more legal steps are coming up.
