Comedian Andrew Schulz seems to be questioning the choices he made during the 2024 Presidential election. On the July 10 episode of the Flagrant podcast, Schulz said he was disappointed with Trump as the President didn’t fulfill his campaign promises. He claimed:
“I believe when Trump, everything he campaigned on, I believe he wanted to do and now he is doing the exact opposite of every single f*cking thing.”
Schulz went on:
“There will be people that like, they will DM me and be like, ‘You see what your boy doing. You voted for this,’ I am like, ‘I voted for none of this.’ He is doing the exact opposite of everything I voted for. I want him to stop the wars. He is funding them. I want him to shrink spending. He is increasing it. It’s like everything that he said he’s gonna do, except sending immigrants back. And now he’s even flip-flopped on that.”
Andrew Schulz said he admired Trump’s belief in needing people to work in the restaurants and produce food. Meanwhile, co-host Akaash Singh shared that he wasn’t sure if the criminals were being deported. However, Singh said many green card holders and non-criminals were sent back.
Schulz claimed that he did not expect the politicians to do what they promised. However, he said, the main question was if they could do anything at all. He felt that Zohran Mamdani has been appealing to the masses for the same reason Trump was exciting for them.
What does Andrew Schulz think about Trump’s plans?
Andrew Schulz explained that when people get frustrated with the present situation and feel like nothing is improving, they become more open to new or unusual ideas from outsiders than they are to the usual suggestions from those already in power. According to him:
"Mamdani comes with these wild ideas that he cannot do like most of them, he literally just physically cannot do. But people are so, and I'm putting this under quotes, desperate for something else. They're like, maybe he'll pull it off."
Andrew Schulz mentioned:
“And I think that was the idea with Trump. It was like, maybe he will stop these wars. No. Maybe we will see what's up with this epic No.”
Akaash Singh said he liked that Mamdani at least seemed like he tried to make a difference. He felt that Trump didn’t even try to do the things he promised. He also didn’t find Kamala Harris exciting because, to him, she seemed just like Trump.
Andrew Schulz added that he believed Trump did try, especially when it came to stopping wars. He thought Trump genuinely wanted peace and even spoke to Putin about it, thinking he could make it work.
However, he said, in the end, Trump’s overconfidence got in the way, and he realized it wasn’t that simple because Putin had bigger goals.
Andrew Schulz said that illegal immigration and people crossing the border without permission had almost completely stopped, which was a big part of Trump’s plan. He felt that saying nothing Trump did worked would stop people from listening to other important points in the conversation.
