Japanese actor Kenshin Endô was reportedly arrested on September 24 by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. The Japan Times reported that Kenshin was allegedly detained for being in possession of "0.4 grams of dried cannabis" at fellow actor Hiroya Shimizu's house in "Suginami Ward."
The news outlet added that Shimizu was indicted on Monday for violating the "narcotics control law." Kenshin was reportedly with Shimizu, a part-time worker, and a woman at the time of the alleged offence. The former has denied the allegations and noted,
"I went to Shimizu’s house. I saw something that looked like marijuana, but it wasn’t mine. I’ve never used it.”
According to the news outlet, the part-timer admitted to purchasing the marijuana and claimed that it was for the "four" of them to use.

Kenshin Endô was reportedly arrested for allegedly being in possession of "marijuana" at Hiroya Shimizu's residence earlier this month. While the actor has denied allegations, he is involved in an ongoing investigation. According to a Japanese outlet, News TV Asahi, Kenshin elaborated on his visit to his co-actor, Shimizu's residence on September 1. He noted (roughly translated)
"On the 1st, I went to Shimizu's house. We played chinchiro and other games at home until the next morning. I remember there being a bag of plant fragments and filter paper on a tray. When I went to Shimizu's house, they were already there, so I don't know where they were. I think they belonged to Shimizu, the landlord."
The Japan News reported that Shimizu was arrested on September 3 and was released on a ¥2 million bail by Tokyo Wangan Police Station on Wednesday. Shimizu addressed the press after being released from the police station and said,
“I betrayed the expectations of industry colleagues and fans who supported my career as an actor. I sincerely regret this."
Kenshin Endô reportedly rose to fame as a child actor and made his debut in 2010 with the drama BUNGO. He has starred in numerous movies and dramas, including Reach Beyond The Blue Sky, Liverleaf, and others.
According to News TV Asahi, Harata Office, which represents Kenshin Endô, has reportedly released an official statement about the incident. They wrote on their official website, (roughly translated)
"We are currently working with relevant parties to confirm the facts regarding the reports regarding our affiliated actor Endo Kenshin."
They added,
"We deeply apologize for causing great concern and inconvenience to all those involved and to everyone who has supported us on a daily basis. We will promptly report on our future response once we have confirmed the details."
An official investigation into Kenshin's alleged possession of substances is currently underway.
