Rumble Fish actor Mickey Rourke, best known for playing rough and tough characters in most of his movies, made headlines after he denied approving a GoFundMe campaign for him to pay rent for his Los Angeles home, as per The Independent.

The 73-year-old Rourke, who was previously married to Debra Feuer and Carre Otis, on December 18, 2025, received a notice regarding the rent he owes for his LA home. The notice stated that he has to either settle the unpaid rent or leave the property. As per court documents, as cited by The Independent, Mickey Rourke owes $59,100 in unpaid rent.

The Wrestler star, Mickey Rourke's GoFundMe campaign, named "Help Mickey Rourke Stay in His Home," was set up by Liya-Joelle Joneshis longtime manager Kimberly Hines' assistant, on January 4, 2026, with a target of $100,000. While the former boxer turned actor denied approving the fundraiser to settle his unpaid rent, Hines stated that:

"This fundraiser is being created with Mickey's full permision."

While Jones reportedly claimed that Mickey gave his permission for the fundraiser, on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, the Oscar-nominated actor took to Instagram and shared a video in which he denied approving the GoFundMe campaign, and said:

"Something’s come up that I’m really frustrated, confused and I don’t understand. Somebody set up some kind of foundation or fund for me to donate money. A charity"

He went ahead and said:

"And that’s not me. If I needed money, I wouldn’t ask for no charity. I’d rather stick a gun up my ass and pull the trigger. Whoever did this, I don’t know why they did it. I wouldn’t know what a GoFundMe is in a million years."

As the fundraising campaign is still active on GoFundMe, interestingly, singer-songwriter Bryan Adams is among the top donors. The rockstar and Summer of '69 hitmaker, who, according to Celebrity Net Worth, has a net worth of $75 million, donated $1,346 to Rourke's fundraising campaign. However, Bryan Adams was not the only celebrity who donated; even filmmaker Brett Ratner, who directed movies such as Rush Hour and Tower Heist, also donated $1000.

In his Instagram video, after addressing his GoFundMe campaign, Mickey Rourke said:

"I wasn’t diplomatic. I had to go to over 20 years of therapy to get over the damage that was done to me years ago. I worked very hard to work through that. I’m not that person anymore. I’m not that wild man I was 20 years ago ."

Mickey Rourke also promised his fans and well-wishers that all the money donated to his fundraiser would be returned. He said:

"I would never ask strangers or fans for a nickel. It’s not my style. You ask anybody who knows me. It’s humiliating and fucking embarrassing… I want you to get your money back. All things will pass."
