According to TMZ, along with Rob Reiner, his wife of thirty-four years, Michele Singer, was also found dead in their Los Angeles residence on December 14. Reiner, whose last directed movie was Spinal Tap II: The End Continues, released in September this year, had a long and successful career as not only a filmmaker, but also a screenwriter and actor.
After making his directorial debut in March 1984 with the comedy film This Is Spinal Tap, Rob Reiner went on to become a prominent and well-established filmmaker in Hollywood, particularly making films in the comedy and rom-com genres. Among Reiner's best-known works is the cult classic, When Harry Met Sally, featuring Meg Ryan and Bill Crystal.

After Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer's death, the Los Angeles Police Department has started an investigation. According to the Express US, the Robbery Homicide Division of the LAPD is suggesting it to be a "homicide". The Los Angeles Police Department informed the Express US that:
"On December 14th, around 3:40 pm, LAPD officers assigned to West LA Division responded to a death investigation in the 200 block of South Chadbourne Avenue."
The LAPD continued:
"Once inside the residence, officers discovered two decedents. The identity of the decedents has not yet been confirmed. Robbery Homicide Division (RHD) responded to the residence, which has been identified as the home of Rob Reiner. At this time, no further details are available as this is an ongoing RHD investigation into an apparent homicide."
During a press conference on December 14, Alan Hamilton, Deputy Chief of the LAPD, said:
"At this time, the Los Angeles Police Department is not seeking anyone as a suspect or as a person of interest or in any other manner, and we will not be doing that until we conduct our investigation and we move forward."
