Caspar Lee, one of YouTube's early stars, had earned his first million dollars at the age of 21. He then went on to create a multimillion-dollar empire. In a recent interview with The Times of London, Lee, now 31, discussed his financial milestones.
At the age of sixteen, the British-South African content creator started posting videos on YouTube. In the interview conducted on 4 July, 2025, he revealed to The Times of London:
“I started making YouTube videos when I was 16. It wasn’t really a business avenue. I just thought, this is a cool thing and I want to try to build it up as big as I can."
Caspar Lee continued talking about how, at the age of 18, he had convinced his parents to allow him to take a gap year so that he could focus fully on creating YouTube content. At that time, he had only a small amount of money in his bank account. He said:
“When I was 18, I asked my parents if I could take a year off before going to university and do YouTube full time. At that point I had two or three thousand pounds in my bank account.”
As Caspar Lee joined the wave of British YouTubers that attracted international recognition in the early 2010s, his channel swiftly garnered popularity. Lee's work gained tens of millions of people through partnerships, celebrity interviews, and humorous vlogs. He said:
“I was fortunate to be part of [a] group of YouTubers in the right place at the right time, and the audience and figures grew. I managed to interview Ed Sheeran, Kevin Hart [and] Dwayne Johnson. I turned my YouTube channel into a talk show.
He added:
"I think nearly 10 million people saw the Ed Sheeran video — that was when things really took off. By the time I was 21, I’d made my first million.”
Through brand agreements, advertising money, merchandising, and touring, the inventor had amassed over $1 million by the age of 21. He finally made the switch from influencer to company owner, starting many companies and making significant venture capital investments.
After making his first million at a young age, he said:
“It felt good to get to that point and have a financial cushion for me and my family, but making even more money doesn’t incrementally make you more happy. Even though I made an extreme amount of money quickly, I didn’t know how long it would last.”
Caspar Lee's current net worth and business ventures
Although Caspar Lee's wealth was estimated by Celebrity Net Worth to be $3 million in 2016, his assets have since increased significantly. Although Lee has not disclosed his specific 2025 net worth, Networthspot has reported him to be in the multi-million-dollar range, estimated to be worth $12.7 million.
Among his sources of income are his own YouTube channels, which have amassed over 5 million followers and garnered hundreds of millions of views, as well as his co-founding of businesses such as Proper Living and Influencer.com. In addition, he directly supports a developing venture capital fund. Lastly, he has roles in TV shows and movies such as Joe and Caspar Hit the Road, Spud 3, and The SpongeBob Movie.
Caspar Lee tries to save up as much as possible, he told The Times of London:
“It’s kind of how someone feels when they win the lottery. I don’t really get a buzz from spending. If I spend money on something that I think can make more money one day, then I get a buzz, but I don’t like buying something that I know is just going to lose its value the second I walk out the room.”
A vision for the future

Caspar Lee, who is currently married to model Ambar Driscoll, stated that establishing long-term stability is what drives him. Speaking about his plans, he revealed:
“I don’t have children yet, but I want to make sure my future family will be well looked after. Once you feel secure financially, any additional money doesn’t necessarily make you happier. Some people spend their life trying to just chase money for the wrong reason, but I really enjoy building things. It’s the process, not the money, that makes me happy.”
Caspar Lee doesn't appear to be slowing down professionally, even if he has stopped producing content on a regular basis. He intends to continue investing and growing for many years to come, underscoring the importance of financial preparedness in these uncertain times. He said:
“I can’t really see a time when I’ll stop working. You never know what’s going to happen with global politics or economics, so I hope to have a diverse portfolio of investments that will keep me going.”
