New England Patriots defensive tackle Christian Barmore is looking at domestic assault charges, Us Weekly has reported.

Per the outlet, the 26-year-old was hit with one count of assault and battery on a family/household member. The incident allegedly took place in front of his two-year-old daughter back on August 8. NBC News has reported that Christian Barmore did not play in the 48-18 exhibition win over the Washington Commanders that day.

The domestic abuse allegations against Christian Barmore explored:

According to documents obtained by Us Weekly, on the day of the incident, Christian Barmore and his girlfriend, who is the mother of his child, got into a row at his home in Mansfield, Massachusetts. When Barmore woke up that day, he

allegedly “became angry because the air conditioning was set at 70 degrees and he wanted it at 68 degrees.”

The woman claimed she tried to avoid him the rest of the day because of his "bad mood." Later that day, however, the latter asked her “why she was eating his food,” prompting her to pack up her bags and leave the home. She was on call with her mother at the time when Christian Barmore allegedly

“took the phone out of her hand and disconnected the call.”

He then refused to hand the phone back, causing the situation to escalate. His girlfriend then began calling out for help.

“[Barmore] grabbed her before she could and threw her to the floor,” the documents stated. When she tried to get up, he allegedly “grabbed her by the shirt in the area of her neck.”

Within moments, the woman claimed that Christian Barmore

“rushed at her but didn’t make any contact. [The woman] said her daughter tried to jump into her arms when this happened and believed that is the only reason [Barmore] didn’t touch her,” the documents said.

She finally left the home and drove out to Delaware. In her report, she included photos of bruises, allegedly caused by being shoved to the floor. She also claims to be pregnant with his second child.

"We are confident that the evidence will demonstrate that no criminal conduct took place," Barmore's attorney David Meier said in statement Wednesday afternoon, per NBC News. "Based on the facts and the law, we expect that this personal matter will be resolved in the near future and both parties will move forward together."
