"Southern Charm" star Kathryn Dennis has reportedly been sentenced to 30 days behind bars in connection with a DUI case from last year.

TMZ broke the news that Dennis was arrested at around 7 PM ET on Friday night in the Berkeley County detention center, South Carolina. Last year, she got into a multi-vehicle accident in Goose Creek, South Carolina.

At the time, an officer penned in his report that Kathryn Dennis had "glossy eyes and an odor of alcohol coming from her person." Fits news has reported that this is her first DUI, and she had an open container of alcohol at the time of her accident, when she rear-ended another vehicle at a stoplight on the night of May 20, 2024.

Kathryn Dennis' legal struggles explored:

Per Fits News, officers of the Goose Creek Police Department arrived shortly after midnight on May 20, 2024, at the intersection of U.S. Highway 52 and Stephanie Drive. They were responding to reports of “a motor vehicle collision with injury.”

Upon arrival, they noticed “an odor consistent with the odor of alcoholic beverages emanating from" Kathryn Dennis, despite her contending that she was sober. She was promptly arrested and her vehicle searched, which is when officers uncovered “located several mini bottles of Fireball, some of which were opened and empty.”

She also declined to submit to a breathalyzer examination, though she later reportedly conceded to having consumed alcohol “way earlier” in the evening. She was later transported to a local hospital, and according to officers, she “could not recall when the collision happened.”

Kathryn Dennis was sued six weeks ago for the collision by Larry Patrick Griffin, a resident of Orangeburg County. In his complaint, he is accusing Dennis of making

"the conscious decision to drive a motor vehicle on a public roadway while under the influence and intoxication of alcoholic beverages, and/or other controlled substance(s)." He claims her behavior caused a collision that left him with “serious bodily injury, pain and suffering and mental anguish” as well as “property damage.”

His complaint is now reportedly pushing for a jury trial and

“actual damages in an appropriate amount, for property damage, punitive damages, for the costs of this action.”

Notably, this isn't Kathryn Dennis' first brush with the law. In October 2023, a vehicle registered under her name was linked to an alleged hit-and-run in South Carolina, per People Magazine. The SUV collided with a school resource officer directing traffic in front of the Whitesville Elementary School. The latter was treated on site.

According to the outlet, the vehicle "did not stop at the scene of the collision," and it was later found at Dennis's residence. A source confirmed to the outlet that the car belonged to her, though the South Carolina Highway Patrol did not divulge who was behind the wheel.

Kathryn Dennis is most known for having starred on Southern Charm in 2014, when she made a guest appearance in season 1. She eventually became a series regular, though she departed the show in season 8.

According to TMZ, however, she has long dealt with substance about, and notoriously went to rehab in 2016 after she lost custody of her two kids to Thomas Ravenel.
