Football offensive guard Shaq Mason has reportedly found himself in hot water, as reports say that he was taken into custody on August 27, following a complaint of domestic violence. As per Complex, Mason was apprehended at a traffic stop in Tennessee.

An exclusive report by TMZ from August 27 states that he allegedly assaulted his baby's mother at her place. Around 3 a.m., he got into her house and then entered her bedroom, where he tried to choke her. He also hurt the woman in her mouth, which caused a laceration on her lower lip, as seen by police officials.

The report notes that charges raised against him included aggravated assault, possession of a suspended driver’s license, burglary, and harassment. Shaq Mason also sent his photo to the mama, writing that he would harm her.

A court hearing is likely to be held in October 2025. Although the bond amount is reported to be $150,000, Mason is still in custody. The Franklin Police Department shared an X post regarding the matter, where they wrote:

“A Brentwood man has been arrested by Franklin police officers after being suspected of domestic assault. The incident occurred at a home in Franklin on the morning of Wednesday, August 27. Shaquille Mason, 31, was later apprehended during a traffic stop.”

The statement continued:

“Mason is charged with Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Burglary, Harassment, and Diving on a Suspended License. Mason’s bond is set at $150,000. As of sending out this information, he remains in custody.”

Mason was a football player at Columbia Central High School. He then attended Georgia Tech.

Shaq Mason talks about his teammates

In 2022, Shaq Mason appeared for a press conference after the OTAs. As seen in a video posted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, when asked about the heat, Mason said it hadn’t been too tough so far.

A reporter then pointed out that practice was voluntary and asked why he still showed up, especially since, as an offensive lineman, there wasn’t any real hitting going on. He said:

“It's helpful to me because, I mean it's a new team, just new terminology and kind of you know getting with the guys and kind of meshing and being beside Tristan and getting a little continuity going right there and just kind of just working together.”

A reporter asked Shaq Mason what he thought about the group of players practicing. Mason said they were a great group, and even though practice was voluntary, everyone showed up and worked hard, which made him feel they were all building something bigger together. He also said:

“Football is football at the end of the day so one team to another both you know good organizations and I mean I'm happy to be here.”

Shaq Mason also praised Deadrin Senat, calling him a good player. He said he got to know Senat pretty well as the latter is a native of Atlanta. A reporter asked him what it was like working with Tristan Wirfs. Mason said Tristan worked hard, was a natural leader, and they both learned from each other by asking questions and sharing ideas.
