JoJo Siwa recently broke down in tears, but this time, they weren’t caused by pain. She shared in a TikTok video how a simple comment from her boyfriend, Chris Hughes, reopened a long-standing wound.
While drying her hair, she said Chris told her,
“You have a really good hairline.”
That remark hit differently. Wiping tears from her face, JoJo Siwa shared with viewers,
“That’s the number one thing I was bullied for as a child.”
Hughes quickly embraced JoJo Siwa, telling her, “I love you” and sharing,
“You have a really good hairline. It’s got so much hair.”
The emotional moment comes from JoJo’s past struggles. According to E! News, she told Chris, whom she met during their time on Celebrity Big Brother U.K., that being ridiculed for her hairline had affected her self-esteem for years.
In the caption of her post, JoJo explained that her tears were tears of joy, not sadness. She revealed that she had developed a receding hairline because of a stress rash from her Dance Moms days, and years of online mockery had left her with emotional scars.
“He had no idea of the 2017–2020 hairline memes that I’m not affected by on the daily anymore, but him saying this out of thin air literally finished healing a part of me.” she wrote.
Describing the experience as a metaphorical bandage being lifted, JoJo added,
“It’s almost like I had a band aid over it for the last 8 years and just was leaving it there scared to look under it to see if it’s healed.”
She ended her caption with gratitude:
“Lucky lucky girl I am. Don’t even think I realize how lucky sometimes.”
JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes reflect on first solo date months into their relationship:

For Chris Hughes, love often means quiet nights at home and meaningful silences with JoJo Siwa. In an emotional interview with E! News, the Love Island star discussed his relationship with Siwa, sharing how much their bond has strengthened since going public.
"She's literally the love of my life, but she's also my best friend, like, we sit and do nothing together." he said.
Though their bond formed months ago during Celebrity Big Brother UK, the pair recently realized they hadn’t done something most couples do early on: go on a proper date.
"We went up to Malibu and we went for a lovely dinner and it was like a date night," Chris recalled.
"On the way back—it was like an hour drive home—we parked up and we said to each other, 'That was actually our first proper date together.'" he added.
While they’d shared meals with friends and family, this moment was a rare outing just for the two of them.
"Yes, we've been to dinners with each other's families and each other's friends and stuff like that, but we've never, ever solely done something just on our own right." he explained.
Still, for Chris, his best memories with JoJo Siwa are in the quiet moments—tea on the sofa, laughter filling their living room.
"We spend so much time with each other, just us captivated in this little world in our living room, but we actually went out and it didn't hit us until we got home that that was actually our first proper date. So, it was lovely." he shared.
