Chris Redd, who was a stand-up comedian for years, was catapulted to mainstream fame after appearing on Saturday Night Live. He played Steven Dankerson in the Netflix original series Disjointed alongside veteran actress Kathy Bates.
After leaving SNL in 2022, he is currently focusing on continuing comedy. He was a cast member on SNL for five seasons before his September 2022 exit. Redd also recently starred in Jessica Swale's rom-com Merv, which was released on December 10, 2025.
It was during the time of Chris Redd's exit from SNL when the news emerged that the comedian turned actor was in a romantic relationship with Kenan Thompson's ex-wife, Christina. Kenan and Christina, who share two daughters, were married for eleven years before they split in 2022. Talking about his experience being a cast member on SNL at the time, Redd, in a statement, as per US Weekly, said:
"Being a part of SNL has been the experience of a lifetime. Five years ago, I walked into 30 Rock knowing that this was an amazing opportunity for growth. Now, with friends who have become family and memories I will cherish forever, I'm grateful to Lorne Michaels and to the entire SNl organization. From the bottom of my heart, I can't thank you all enough."
Chris Redd revealed he had a pill problem during his SNL days

According to US Weekly, Chris Redd, in his January 6 Instagram video, revealed that he went through a pill problem while he was a cast member on SNL. He also mentioned that he sold some of those pills to a few of his other castmates. Redd said:
"While I was at the show, I had some pill issues, I had some pill problems. Nothing too crazy, but crazy for my black ass, you know? I was even selling some to some of my castmates. I'm not gonna snitch on y'all motherf***ers, man."
While mentioning how he felt hurt at the time when people talked behind his back regarding his pill addiction, Chris Redd said:
"I would hear them because, you know, some of that Adderall s*** got you super hearing and s***. But [they] wouldn't help me, you know. I would have panic attacks, [they] wouldn't be concerned about me or nothing. Just would talk s***. It's crazy how somebody would watch you destroy yourself, you know."
