Dave Portnoy reportedly slammed Tom Brady for cloning his late dog. The NFL legend confirmed earlier this week that his new dog, Junie, is a clone of his late pooch, Lua. He partnered with Colossal Biosciences, a biotech company that he serves as an investor in, to clone his late pup with a blood sample he saved from before she died. He shared Lua with his ex-wife, supermodel Gisele Bundchen. Two years after the pup died, he welcomed Junie. However, Portnoy, the Barstool Sports founder, took to X to ridicule the idea: "I’m a dog guy and a Brady guy. This is weird as f**k," he penned. As of today, the post has garnered over 21,000 likes. Here's everything we know about Tom Brady's new pooch: In a press release for the biotech company, Tom Brady said, per People Magazine: "I love my animals. They mean the world to me and my family. A few years ago, I worked with Colossal and leveraged their non-invasive cloning technology through a simple blood draw of our family's elderly dog before she passed." Because of this, the star athlete and his three kids got a "second chance with a clone of our beloved dog." He is also excited or how Colossal and Viagen’s tech can "help both families losing their beloved pets while helping to save endangered species." The Daily Mail has reported that the quarterback and his former wife adopted Lua in 2014. The next year, they adopted a beagel they named Scooby, and yet another terrier, dubbed Fluffy, in 2016. Lua died in 2023, shortly after Tom Brady and Gisele parted ways. At the time, the supermodel, 45, shared a tribute to the family pooch on Instagram: “Our little Lulu, our guardian angel is gone to heaven. She will forever live in our hearts. We already miss her sooooo much! #unconditionallove RIPLua 💔.” Tom Brady also shared a post of his family with the dog, and the caption read: “We love you Lua, RIP." Since then, he also welcomed a black pit bull mix named Onyx. In the press release, it was announced that Colossal Biosciences has acquired Viagen Pets and Equine, infamous for cloning dogs for high-profile figures like Paris Hilton and Barbra Streisand. According to the outlet, prices for cloning range from $50,000 to $85,000 per pet. Talksport has reported that they possess technology licenses from the Roslin Institute of Edinburgh, which famously cloned Dolly the Sheep in 1996. Stay tuned to SoapCentral for more.
