In 1998, Donald Trump appeared in a short cameo in Woody Allen’s film Celebrity. The movie featured several well-known faces, and Trump’s appearance was brief but memorable. Many years later, the director has shared details about what it was like to have Trump on set.

Woody Allen recently spoke on Bill Maher’s Club Random podcast about his experience working with Trump. The director explained that, although he does not share Trump’s political views, his time working with him on set was a pleasant experience. He said Trump came across as professional and capable on camera.

Allen also noted that he was surprised by Trump’s later move into politics. At the time, he only knew Trump as a businessman and someone who enjoyed public events. The director said he did not expect Trump to choose a path in public office.

Woody Allen described Donald Trump as polite and respectful during filming. He said Trump followed directions, hit his marks, and did everything that was asked of him. According to Allen, this made the filming process smooth and simple.

Donald Trump’s cameo was brief, but the director noted that it revealed Trump had a natural ease in front of the camera. He explained that Trump seemed comfortable and knew how to present himself well for the scene. Allen even described him as a good actor for the small role.

Allen added that Trump was friendly with the cast and crew. He said there were no issues on set and that Trump left a good impression during the brief time he was involved in the project. For Allen, the experience stood out as a positive one.

While Allen praised Trump as an actor, he made it clear that his opinion was only about the professional experience. Allen explained that he disagrees with most of Donald Trump’s political views. He said he is a Democrat and had voted for Kamala Harris, indicating that his personal politics are far from those of Trump.

Allen also explained that his praise was not political in any way. He said it was based only on what he saw while directing Trump in Celebrity.

The director even joked about wanting to direct Trump again, saying he would not mind directing him as President if given the chance.
