The tension between wrestlers Ric Flair and Dutch Mantell escalated this week after Flair’s now-deleted tweet about Jim Ross. Flair's post on Jim Ross's cancer update sparked outrage and topped headlines. Flair had referred to Ross as “attention seeking,” prompting Mantell to respond bluntly during his podcast, Story Time with Dutch Mantell.

“Why would he say that? Because he’s a d**k. No kidding,” Mantell shared, addressing Flair’s remarks.
“What difference does it make to Ric Flair, the man’s sick, and he was just telling people what’s going on with him… He needs to shut up. He really does.” added Mantell.

Ric Flair eventually dismissed the post as a joke, but Mantell wasn’t buying it.

Host James Romero brought up Flair’s defense, but the skepticism in Mantell’s tone didn’t fade. He even aimed at Flair’s intellect:

“Let me ask you, what do you think Ric Flair’s IQ is, actually, is? I would say between 80 and 90… He’s not the smartest student in the classroom… you won’t sit down and have any kind of physics discussion with Ric Flair.”

The incident drew attention to the growing divide among wrestling veterans.

When Dutch Mantell gave opinions on Ric Flair, it didn’t take long for the "Nature Boy" to fire back. What began as a seemingly restrained response quickly evolved into something far more explosive.

This was Flair’s first message to Mantell on X:

“Dutch, Everyone Is Always Going To Think Of You As A Veteran That’s Not Allowed To Have An Opinion. But I Sympathize With Your Health Issues, And Hope You Recover & Return To Top Health. You Have Always Been A Good Guy. The Anger You Pour Out At Everybody Is Clearly Coming From The Pain You Feel. Please Stay Strong!”

But Flair’s tone didn’t stay restrained for long. In a follow-up post, the wrestler said:

“I Try To Be Nice To Everybody. God Only Knows That I’ve Spent More Money On Spilt Liquor In One Year Than People Have In A Lifetime. I Tried Being Nice, And This Is My Last Message To Everyone. I’ve Got More Money Than I’ve Got Time. Go F Yourself Haters. No Comment Needed. Live With It! Actually Learn To Love It!” shared Flair on X.

Flair then doubled down, using his success and earnings as a counterpunch to his critics:

“Get Back To Me Again When You Make 3 Million Dollars A Year At The Age Of 76. That’s What FAMOUS Gets. And By The Way, I Don’t Recognize Anyone In This Conversation Who Is Famous.”

The fallout has once again divided fans. Some praised Flair’s unapologetic confidence, while others argued that his social media opinions are overshadowing his legacy.

However, before Ric Flair shared his opinions regarding the recent conflict with Dutch Mantell, the wrestler had praised Jim Ross on X. According to the June 1 post, Flair wanted to leave the drama behind.

"I Just Made It Clear To The World In An Article Coming Out On Sports Illustrated By Justin Barasso, That Jim Ross Was On My Mount Rushmore Along With Gordon Solie, Gene Okerlund & Jerry Lawler. That’s High Praise Because It Was Very Difficult For Me To Leave Out Tony Schiavone." he shared
"But Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler Were The Greatest Tandem Ever! Nobody Should Be Upset Because Two People Have A Difference In Opinion. It Happens In Life! I Lost A Son, He Lost A Beautiful Wife. We Have A Lot In Common. We Were Both Considered The Best At What We Do. Let’s Leave It Alone At That And All The Haters Can Focus On Someone Else Now." added Ric.
