Professional wrestler Dylan Postl, known by his ring name Hornswoggle, shared his thoughts on actor Peter Dinklage’s comments about Disney’s Snow White and certain roles traditionally associated with the dwarf community. On the October 14 episode of The Ariel Helwani Show, Helwani mentioned the feud between Postl and Dinklage, to which the wrestler responded:
“F*ck Peter Dinklage. I love that your camera guy even loved that.”
He went on to say:
“Man, like, I don't know. Maybe I shouldn't speak on it, but I don't care.”
When asked whether he had resolved the conflict with the actor, Dylan Postl responded negatively, saying that Dinklage hadn’t responded to him. Helwani then asked if he was mad at him, but Postl said he was going to be mad at the actor. He explained:
“So, here’s the issue. So, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves was the live action version was coming out. Disney was producing it or putting it out. Peter Dinklage goes on a podcast and says, ‘What have I been on my soap box for fighting for our community to get regular roles,’ and this that and the other thing. So, Disney cancels it.”
Dylan Postl said that after this, Disney chose regular-sized actors instead of little people for the roles. He said he spoke up for his community and felt it was unfair, especially since Peter had previously played roles meant for little people and didn’t seem to have a problem with it then. He also noted that although Peter had played other kinds of roles as well, he still felt disappointed by his recent comments.
Dylan Postl said Peter Dinklage’s opinion created a loss of opportunities
Dylan Postl noted that the seven roles were reserved for the people of his community. However, as a result of Peter Dinklage’s comment, these people did not get a chance to be in the “major motion picture.” Explaining his disappointment with the actor, Hornswoggle said:
“Disney never does small scale. Disney does huge. Seven roles. Now you're talking seven roles. Now you're talking stunt doubles, extras, all of that. You took those jobs away. My other thing was, why is he the voice of a community? When I could argue I was on television for 10 years.”
Ariel Helwani asked Dylan Postl whether he thought Peter Dinklage had enough influence to get Disney to change its decision, and Dylan said he believed so because Peter has strong sway. When Helwani inquired if Dylan could have landed one of those roles or if he had auditioned, Dylan responded that he hadn’t tried out for it. Hornswoggle explained:
“I thought it was bullsh*t that it got cancelled and that he was the voice of our community.”
Helwani asked if he had ever met Peter Dinklage, and Dylan Postl said he had never met him. However, if he ever did meet him, he would try to be a kind person and explain how Dinklage’s comment changed everything. Despite everything, Postl said he would never be outright mean to the actor.
