Prosecutors are clamping down on claims that Frederick Green pulled the trigger on Jets player Kris Boyd.

TMZ has reported that Green, 20, made an appearance in court today in NYC. His charges, relating to the November 16 incident, were as follows: one count of attempted murder, one count of assault, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

Per the outlet, the judge has granted the prosecutors' motion for a remand, forcing him to remain in custody. In their argument, they pointed out that he can be linked to surveillance footage and cell phone records that place him at the scene of the crime.

The details surrounding Kris Boyd's shooting explored:

CBS Sports has reported that Frederick Green, a Bronx native, was arrested after what was described as a tense confrontation at an apartment complex near the University of Buffalo North Campus in Amherst, New York.

Green, who "significantly changed his physical appearance, presumably to avoid detection," ultimately surrendered himself to the law enforcement officials. "After about 15 minutes, he did realize that he wasn't going to get away. He peeked out the window; we thought he was going to jump out but we had a good perimeter. Eventually he just came out with his hands up and was taken into custody," a U.S. Marshall said, per ABC 7.

Per the Associated Press, in surveillance footage, Green can be seen sporting a face mask as he removes a gun from his pocket and opens fire on the sportsman. He absconded via a white BMW, prosecutors claimed. He left the city the following day as he cut off his hair, ditched his cell phone, and deactivated his social media accounts.

As for Kris Boyd, he took a bullet to his abdomen in the early hours of November 16 in Manhattan. The incident took place after an argument, and it left him in a critical condition. Despite the bullet lodged in his lung, he eventually stabilised. He was discharged shortly after, and even surprised his Jets teammates last week.

Kris Boyd was signed by the team just earlier this year, though he sustained an injury during practice over the summer. Although he has yet to play for the team, he previously played four seasons in the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings. He also signed with the Arizona Cardinals in 2023 before he got drafted by Houston's practice squad later that same season.
