Felicity Huffman was recently seen in New York City on Wednesday, ahead of her appearance on Good Morning America. The American actress is best known for playing the character Lynette Scavo on Desperate Housewives. Huffman, now 62 years old, wore a flowing white coat, crisp button-up shirt, and navy trousers.

Huffman’s appearance on GMA came amid renewed interest in the Desperate Housewives franchise. There is a lot of chatter and excitement among fans as Disney’s Onyx Collective confirmed that a new project titled Wisteria Lane was in development.

Speaking on GMA, Huffman voiced her support for the reimagining of the iconic series. Felicity also referred to actress and producer Kerry Washington, whose company is helming the reboot.

“I am all for it, I just think it's wonderful and I'm a huge fan of Kerry's,” she shared.

While Huffman expressed enthusiasm for the project, she said she had no opinion on who should portray the new version of her original character.

“I have no idea. I think a lot of people could do it better than I did, I can't wait to see it,” she said with a laugh.

On March 12, 2019, the actress, along with several others, was charged by the U.S. Attorney's Office in a nationwide college entrance exam cheating scandal. The 'Varsity Blues' scandal resulted in Huffman having to spend around two weeks in jail.

After her release, Huffman tried to rebuild her career, appearing in shows like The Good Doctor, Criminal Minds: Evolution, among others. She is currently linked with Lifetime’s two-part movie The 13th Wife: Escaping Polygamy.

Felicity Huffman served 11 days in prison for paying $15,000 to manipulate her daughter’s SAT scores. She acknowledged in an interview that she has struggled to reestablish her acting career since her release.

Speaking to The Guardian, Huffman reflected on her involvement in the college admissions scandal that sparked national outrage.

“I walk into the room with it, I did it. It’s black and white,” she said.

Although she has faced some support, Felicity Huffman feels her redemption process has been tough.

“I am not in any way whitewashing what I did, but some people have been kind and compassionate — others have not,” she shared.

Huffman also shared that she had acted for a pilot episode for an ABC project which wasn't picked.

“It’s been hard. Sort of like your old life died and you died with it. I’m lucky enough to have a family and love and means, so I had a place to land,” she explained.

As per a report published by Slate on September 9, 2019, Felicity Huffman wrote the following letter to the judge before the sentencing:

“In my desperation to be a good mother, I talked myself into believing that all I was doing was giving my daughter a fair shot. I see the irony in that statement now because what I have done is the opposite of fair. I have broken the law, deceived the educational community, betrayed my daughter, and failed my family.”

Felicity Huffman has taken tentative steps back into creative work. In June 2023, she appeared on the Supreme podcast as the voice of a judge’s wife, and in November, she spoke on television for the first time since her incarceration. Reflecting on her decision, she said,

“I know this seems crazy … but it felt like I would be a bad mother if I didn’t do it. So, I did it.”
