As per Toofab, Fred Savage and his co-star Jason Harvey were first accused of sexual harassment in 1993 by Monique Long, a former costume designer on The Wonder Years. Fred was 16 at the time. Following that, again in 2018, he was accused of assault, intimidation, battery, and gender discrimination by another costume designer, Youngjoo Hwang, who worked on the sitcom, The Grinder.

In May 2022, for accusations of inappropriate conduct with several women during the production of The Wonder Years reboot show, Fred Savage was fired as director and executive producer. However, Fred denied all the allegations in each of the cases and eventually settled.

During Pod Meets World's season recap episode, when the hosts of the podcast, Will Friedle, Danielle Fishel, and Rider Strong, were questioned by their guests, Tony Curtis and Ceej, the hosts of Bruh Meets World, regarding why they didn't acknowledge Fred Savage's sexual misconduct, they said it was a planned and conscious decision. Also, Fishel revealed that she felt immensely conflicted about touching that topic. As per BuzzFeed, Danielle Fishel said:

"We talked about it and truthfully, out of respect for Ben, we decided not to comment on it."

She continued and said:

"We have still not spoken to Ben, but we know that Ben’s family are incredibly private. Even the reason he gave us for not wanting to be a part of the podcast was that he just didn’t think it was for him … I’m speculating, but I think a large part of that is because we’ve been very vulnerable, and we’ve been very open, and that’s not for everybody."

While Rider Strong explained that they didn't have any new information to share on the subject, he said:

"I wasn’t part of The Wonder Years team; I don’t know anything more than what I could Google. We weren’t gonna get any more good analysis of the episode out of talking about it."

To which Fishel added:

"I never had a bad experience with Fred." Her "experience with Fred doesn’t mean anything; who cares? That wouldn’t have added to the conversation in any way."
