Actress Gina Carano is said to have settled her upcoming lawsuit with Disney. She had made several controversial statements between 2020 and 2021. One of these included sharing a post that compared the difficulty of having different political beliefs today to Jews living under N*zi-occupied Germany.

Soon after the post became public, she was fired from her role as the mercenary Cara Dune in early 2021. Three years later, in 2024, Gina Carano filed a wrongful termination and discrimination lawsuit against Disney, which was settled a year later. A statement released to People Magazine on behalf of Disney read:

The Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm are pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement with Gina Carano to resolve the issues in her pending lawsuit against the companies. Ms. Carano was always well respected by her directors, co-stars, and staff, and she worked hard to perfect her craft while treating her colleagues with kindness and respect. With this lawsuit concluded, we look forward to identifying opportunities to work together with Ms. Carano in the near future."

Gina Carano also took to X (formerly Twitter) to discuss the agreement she reached with Disney. Since her lawsuit was supported by Elon Musk, she also thanked him for backing her. She wrote:

"I have come to an agreement with Disney/Lucasfilm which I believe is the best outcome for all parties involved. I hope this brings some healing to the force. I want to extend my deepest most heartfelt gratitude to Elon Musk, a man I've never met, who did this Good Samaritan deed for me in funding my lawsuit, for backing my case and asking for nothing in return."

Gina Carano, who began her career as a mixed martial artist, transitioned into acting with a lead role in the 2011 film, "Haywire." Since then, she has appeared in several films, and in 2018, she was cast as Cara Dune in the Disney live action series, "The Mandalorian," starring Pedro Pascal in the lead role.

In February 2021, she shared a post to her Instagram Stories showing a Jewish woman being chased by children in N*zi Germany. The post seemingly alluded to the idea that this type of treatment was similar to hating someone for their political ideologies. The post read:

"Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors…. even by children. Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where N*zi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different than hating someone for their political views."

The story, which was soon deleted, ignited a firestorm. Other controversial statements Carano had made on other social media platforms, like X (formerly Twitter), over the past few years came to light, with the hashtag #FireGinaCarono trending on X (formerly Twitter).

In her previous posts, she had also voiced her displeasure regarding he mandatory use of mask during the COVID-19 pandemic. She had also tweeted about alleged voter fraud soon after Joe Biden won the Presidential elections in 2020, although there was no evidence to support the claim.

Apart from these above tweets, Gina Carano had also previously changed her Twitter bio to include the words, "beep/bop/boop." This caused further controversy, as many saw this as attempt to mock of attack trans people.

Shortly after she shared that controversial Instagram post, she was dropped by United Talent Agency. Disney later issued a statement saying that Gina Carano was no longer employed with the company, and explained the reason for her exit from the show. They said:

"Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable."

Gina Carano never apologized for any of her tweets, and during her appearance on The Ben Shapiro Show she defended her post and said:

"I've actually grown through the experience. It's not fair on the Jewish community to throw this out there. If you say the word N*zi or call someone a N*zi, you need to have a little bit more respect... so I understand that. I have love for everyone. I am not a hateful person"

In her post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, Gina Carano also talked about the next step in her career and expressed her desire to pursue more acting roles. She said:

"I am excited to flip the page and move onto the next chapter. My desires remain in the arts, which is where I hope you will join me. Yes, I’m smiling"

According to reports, a live action spin off focusing on Gina Carano's character Cara Dune, was previously rumored to be in development. However, following her exit from the franchise, those plans were ultimately scrapped.
