Grant Ellis broke his silence following criticism from Bachelor Nation alums Ashley Iaconetti and Trista Sutter regarding his breakup with Juliana Pasquarosa. After the pair voiced their opinions during the June 24 Almost Famous podcast, Ellis posted a now-deleted comment to the show’s Instagram account. As reproduced in an Us Weekly report on June 25, his Instagram post said:

“Everyone is criticizing and I get that. I did everything I could to make the relationship work. So did Juliana. I am able to distance my feelings when something isn’t for me. The lesson learned over heartbreak any day.”

Ben Higgins later read the message on a special episode and offered his take.

“It comes across a little cold,” he said, reflecting on how recently the couple had gone public with plans for a future together.

Ben added:

“They were claiming the reason we didn’t see them together was because of the distance but that was going to be a solution here soon.”

He also defended Ashley’s earlier suspicions about the relationship's stability, which, though initially criticized, proved to be accurate.

“But I don’t think it’s an unfair comment for [Grant] to make, he’s trying to move forward... trying to date again while his momentum from the show is still strong,” Ben concluded.
