Rihanna and Ciara are quelling rumors of bad blood by reuniting at the Met Gala, 14 years after their viral Twitter exchange.
The two music powerhouses were seen striking a pose for the camera at the 2025 Met Gala, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, on Monday evening, May 5. Ciara can be seen cradling RiRi's baby bump, hours after she announced that she was expecting her third child with A$AP Rocky.
For the unversed, back in February 2011, Rihanna and Ciara got into a heated exchange on what is now known as X. It began when the latter sat down as a guest judge on E!’s Fashion Police at the time. When a photo of Rihanna at the BRIT Awards came up, Ciara spoke her mind on what she thought of her:
“I ran into her recently at a party and she wasn’t the nicest and it’s crazy because I’ve always loved and respected what she’s done with fashion. I’ve ran into her before, but this time it wasn’t the most pleasant run-in,” she said.
Rihanna took her words to Twitter to push back not long after.
Rihanna and Ciara's notorious beef explored:
On February 26, 2011, Rihanna penned on Twitter:
“My bad ci, did I 4get to tip u? #howrudeofme.”
Ciara responded by saying,
“Trust me Rhianna u dont want to see me on or off the stage.”
The Fenty Beauty mogul shot back:
“U gangsta huh? Haaa.” She then added, “Good luck with bookin that stage u speak of.”
Later that night, however, Ri had a change of heart when she tweeted an apology to her fellow musician:
"Ciara baby, I love u girl! U hurt my feelings real bad on TV! I'm heartbroken! That's y I retaliated this way! So sorry! #letsmakeup."
Ciara echoed the sentiments:
"Rhi u know its always been love since day 1! Doing shows/everything. you threw me off in that party! Apology accepted. Let's chat in person."
Notably, two years after they set aside their differences, their feud was reignited when Ciara assumed RiRI was poking fun at her then-new single, Body Party. At the time, shortly after the music video of the same dropped, the latter shared a clip of herself and her friend watching the video and giggling.
In response, Ciara told WGCI:
"I thought everything was cool because I actually saw Rihanna two years ago at the MET Gala after we had the little small back and forth. From what I recall, everything was cool. So in my mind, I operate from a place of love and pure support. If you would have asked me about her up until this point I would have nothing but good things to say because I’m really happy for her. But I didn’t receive what they did from a positive place."
The songstress doubled down on her complaints when she told WiLD 949:
"I don’t know what her problem is, I think she’s nuts right now. Whatever’s going on, it doesn’t make any sense. She has a lot of good things going on with herself. A lot of good things I’ve always said I’ve been happy for her. I don’t get it, I really don’t but I wish her well. I wish her positivity."
However, back in 2018, the pair seemingly ended their feud when the billionaire mogul shared a video of herself singing along to Ciara's 2004 breakout hit Goodies.
