Columbus Short has been granted a temporary restraining order against his wife, Aida, after she abused a puppy.
TMZ has reported that the Scandal alum is accusing his wife of hurling a 10-week-old puppy and getting physically violent with him. In documents obtained by the outlet, Short said his wife abused their puppy, and when he confronted her, she docked him in the face, causing a bloody injury to his eye.
One of his neighbours reportedly heard Aida "screaming very loudly as if she was being murdered" and called 911. When officials arrived, they noticed the bruising on him and cuffed Aida.

TMZ has reported that Columbus Short is accusing his wife of abusing the puppy since they brought him home on June 21. In one instance, after the dog had an accident inside the house, she kicked it in a fit of rage. He says he tried to step in and save the puppy, causing Aida to hit him with a glass trophy.
He also accuses his wife of hurling verbal abuse at him every single day, even in front of their children. Furthermore, she allegedly has a history of threatening him with knives.
The actor is now petitioning the judge to have Aida maintain a 100-yard distance from him, their two children, and two dogs. He is also petitioning that she move out of the house, but that she keep paying rent. In his filings, he referred to his partner as “emotionally unstable” and dangerous.
Notably, the actor has been on the receiving end of a restraining order. Back in November 2022, as reported by The Daily Mail, the star was accused of threatening his neighbor on several occasions. The neighbor, 40, was finally granted the restraining order when Columbus allegedly got in his face.
At the time, Columbus Short allegedly threatened to beat his neighbor up with his child present, and referred to himself as a "killer." He also said that the incident saw Short grab his wrist and try to break into his home, and that a similar debacle took place just two days later.
According to The Daily Mail, Columbus Short was ordered to stay 15 feet away from his neighbor, his spouse, and his child.
The actor, who played Harrison Wright on Scandal, departed the show March/April, 2014. At the time, he issued a statement to ESSENCE.com, where he thanked Shonda Rhimes for giving him the platform to work:
“At this time I must confirm my exit from a show I’ve called home for 3 years, with what is the most talented ensemble on television today,” he wrote. “I would like to first thank Shonda Rhimes for the opportunity to work with such an amazing cast. Thank you GLADIATORS, who have supported me throughout my entire career and of course to ABC and Shondaland for allowing me to play such a pivotal role in the Scandal series. I have enjoyed every single minute of it.”
At the time, the outlet reported that Columbus Short was being accused of domestic violence by his former wife, Tuere McCall-Short. She had alleged that her former husband threatened to kill her and himself, prompting her to file a restraining order against him.
