Conor McGregor has returned to the internet after weeks and has disclosed that he had received rigorous psychedelic-assisted treatment in Mexico. He claims that this experience forced him to face the repercussions of his drug usage and witness his own death. After years away from the octagon, Conor 'The Notorious' McGregor has been hinting at a return to the octagon at The White House.
When Conor McGregor suddenly deactivated his Instagram account in November 2025, and his X account in October, many wondered what he was up to. Many thought Conor McGregor was entering camp to prepare for a fight. The Mystic Mac last fought in the Octagon in 2021 against his longtime rival, Dustin Poirier.

The match between the two ended in The Diamond's favor as Conor McGregor ended up breaking his leg at the end of the first round of their trilogy fight, which was declared a TKO for Poirier. After breaking his leg, he was sidelined for months and was supposed to fight Michael Chandler in UFC 303. The match was then canceled as Conor McGregor got injured.
The former double champ aims to fight Chandler at the UFC event scheduled for the White House in June of next year. According to Conor McGregor's coach, John Kavanagh, McGregor is fully locked in. He told Ariel Helwani on The Ariel Helwani Show:
"We're 100 percent in. He's asked me to basically lay out a program between now and June of how we'll ramp up our training."
He added:
"He's showing up again, he's back in the gym most mornings, early, and yeah, he's having fun with it... he wants to fight everybody. But certainly he wants to get on [the UFC White House] card, so how it works from a management point of view, that's between them."
He concluded:
"I don't really get involved in that, but from a training point of view, he's already tasked me with putting together a team of suitable training partners. We'll do some of it in the gym, some of it in his house. So he's fully locked in that we're going to be making the walk in - what is it, six, seven months?"
Conor McGregor's treatment
After a long absence, the Mystic Mac explained the reason for his absence with a tweet on X. He explained that he went to Tijuana, Mexico, for ibogaine therapy, a contentious but increasingly researched psychedelic treatment for addiction, trauma, and withdrawal symptoms:
"Hey guys, I am back. I was blessed to meet the most forward thinking doctors from Stanford University and undergo a series of treatments to address trauma. I travelled to Tijuana Mexico and underwent Ibogaine treatment at AMBIO. Watch the @netflix documentary just released titled “In Waves and War” as it is the exact place I went."
He described the experience as "incredible, intense, and absolutely eye-opening" as the psychedelic experience made him see his own death had he continued down a destructive path:
"It was incredible, intense, and absolutely eye opening. I was shown what would have been my death. How soon it was to be, and how it would have impacted my children. I was looking down on myself as it happened, and then I was looking out from the coffin."
Conor McGregor also shared his spiritual encounter where he encountered the Holy Trinity:
"God then came to me in the Holy Trinity. He is MIGHTY! Jesus, his child. Mary, his Mother. The Archangels. All present in heaven. I was shown the light."
He added that Jesus had "descended from the white marble steps of heaven and anointed me with a crown":
"I was saved! My brain. My heart. My soul. Healed!"
Following the 36-hour session, he felt like he had returned to himself when he recovered full consciousness:
"I was me again."
Over the years, Conor McGregor has had to face multiple challenges: injuries, his public controversies and his drug-related setbacks. He claimed that the therapy saved him and his family:
"It is very, very tough, but it absolutely saved my life, and in turn saved my family."
He went on to thank his family members, friends and fans for their "inspiration, motivation, encouragement, well wishes, support" and their prayers.
Now that The Notorious is back, he plans to pick up where he left off, and that is most probably against Michael Chandler. It is not yet confirmed whether he will be on the UFC’s White House card.
