What have Cory Monteith's parents said about his death
Cory Monteith was a Canadian actor, best known for his appearance on Glee and The Price of Glee. Cory passed away on July 13, 2013, after an accidental drug overdose at 31.
Both McGregor and Joe had spoken up about his death, sharing their grievances. At the time, McGregor told People:
"I still can't pick up the pieces. My world totally stopped. And I'm a different person than I was before."
While speaking to People, Joe said:
"I lost my son. He should have known not to touch that drug again. It's just ripping my insides out and tearing me apart."
Cory Monteith's mother, was not able to fully process his death and in 2018, opened up about how she learned of his death from his girlfriend Lea Michele to People:
"I got a call from Lea and she was screaming on the phone. She was yelling, 'Is it true, is it true about Cory?' and I said, 'What about Cory?' I had heard nothing. And then police knocked on my front door. I went into a state of numbness. I just shut off all emotions, and I was numb."
Looking back at his son's life, and his relationship with drugs, Ann said, that drugs were Cory Monteith's "way of checking out" adding that the actor "didn't want to die. There is no doubt about that." Ann also mentioned that she felt as though her son "wasn't ready for the Hollywood world" as it led him back to his old habits.
