Cristiano Ronaldo, who was previously in a relationship with Irina Shayk, is now reportedly engaged to Georgina Rodriguez, with whom he has been since 2016.

According to The Sun, Ronaldo and Irina Shayk broke up in 2015 after she allegedly did not attend the big birthday celebration for Ronaldo's mother.

Cristiano Ronaldo's engagement to Georgina Rodriguez was announced through a post on Instagram by the model. In the post, the newly engaged couple was seen posing with their hands stacked on top of each other, as Rodriguez showed off her ring. In the post, translated from Spanish, she wrote:

"Yes I do. In this and in all my lives."

Ronaldo and Georgia Rodriguez initially kept their relationship private for the first few months but confirmed it with their first public appearance at the Best FIFA Football Awards in January 2017. This was Ronaldo's first long-term public relationship after his breakup from Shayk in 2015.

Irina Shayk's relationship and split from Cristiano Ronaldo explored

Irina Shayk met Cristiano Ronaldo in 2010 when they were both signed for an Armani Exchange ad campaign. According to Grazia Magazine, the couple soon started dating and were together for five years. They made their first public appearance at the 2011 Ballon d'Or Awards. In January 2015, Cristiano Ronaldo announced his split from Irina Shayk, explaining that they believed it was the best decision for them. He said at the time, according to BBC:

"After dating for five years, my relationship with Irina Shayk has come to an end. We believed it would be best for both of us to take this step now.. I wish Irina the greatest happiness."

A representative for the supermodel also confirmed the breakup. The statement, which was released to Page Six, also addressed rumors about her not being close to his family, and said:

"At the time of the split, the model's rep also told Us Weekly, 'We can confirm Irina Shayk has ended her relationship to Cristiano Ronaldo of five years. She has been close with his family throughout the course of their relationship."

It further read:

"Any negative rumors with regards to Irina and the Ronaldo family are completely false, and have not been a factor in the cause of the spilt. Irina has no further comment at the time."

According to The Sun, Irina Shayk allegedly lost nearly eleven million followers after she asked them to unfollow her if they only knew her because of her relationship with Ronaldo. In a 2016 interview with Hola! Magazine, Shayk made a cryptic statement about her views on relationships. She said:

Relationships are hard, so you have to make sure the kind of man you want by your side and what his values are, what is important in your life. Both have to share the same concept of what it means to be in a relationship and the same energy to create a monogamous relationship.”

According to InStyle Magazine, after her breakup from Cristiano Ronaldo, Irina Shayk dated Bradley Cooper from 2015 until their breakup in 2019. The couple shares one daughter, Lea De Seine Shayk Cooper, whom they continue to coparent.
