"I feel overwhelming gratitude for the incredible people who have supported me along this journey. Thank you for your courage, your generosity and ceaselessly working to make this world a more inclusive and compassionate place. The actor concluded his heartfelt post, noting,
"Thank you for reading this. All my love, Elliot"
A look at Elliot Page and Emma Portner's relationship timeline

The duo met in 2017
Elliot first met Emma virtually. In 2017, he came across the dancer's video on the social media platform, according to The New York Times, as Business Insider cited.
Seeing Portner's performance on Sylvan Esso's song, the Hard Candy actor wanted to text and laud her for her dancing skills. Conveying how he felt after watching the video, he said,
"I thought, damn, this girl is so talented and so cool. I knew right away we were both creative spirits."
Emma also joined the conversation and recalled the memory from her 12-year-old self of a film featuring Elliot. She described,
"I knew we'd cross paths someday — I just wasn't quite sure when or how."
Apart from their romance, they have worked together beyond their personal lives, too. In one of their videos, Elliot sang a cover of Lucky by Britney Spears, and his ex-partner danced to his acoustic version.
Neither Elliot Page nor Emma Portner tried to keep their romance under wraps. Soon after they began dating, they started making appearances at events together as a couple.
On September 27, 2017, they were seen having a great time at their first movie premiere of Flatliners in Los Angeles as lovebirds.
During a red carpet conversation with Entertainment Tonight, cited by Business Insider, Elliot spoke about his partner rooting for him at his movie premiere, conveying,
"Oh, it's the best. Yeah, it's the best."
In an exclusive conversation with The Cut, Emma reflected on dating an actor. As Business Insider reported, she explained the dynamic as,
"It's quite crazy. But if anything, I'm happy for it. We try to hold hands in public. I try to join him at movie premieres ... It's a chance for queerness to be out in the open."
The ex-couple tied the knot after a few months
Within a few months of dating, Elliot Page exchanged vows with Emma Portner in a low-key ceremony in 2018. They did not reveal many details about their special wedding ceremony. Nor did they disclose their wedding date.
They split in 2021
After around three years of marriage, Emma and Elliot confirmed their separation. They released a statement to People, announcing,
"After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce following our separation last summer. We have the utmost respect for each other and remain close friends."
The Peacock actor filed for a divorce in the Manhattan Supreme Court on January 26, 2021.
