Halle Bailey was granted restraining order against DDG on May 13, as per legal documents obtained by E! News. Bailey had filed a request in Los Angeles, where she brought up a January incident, accusing DDG, or Daryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., of slamming her face against the steering wheel of a car, bruising her arm, and causing her a chipped tooth. Bailey had also attached images of the injuries in the legal documents.
In the filing, Bailey mentioned that she and Granberry broke up due to his "temper and lack of respect towards me" and accused him of "badmouthing" her parenting skills on social media. In the statement attached to the filing, Bailey mentioned,
"I realize that there is no placating Darryl. I cannot allow this abuse any longer. I cannot keep living like this. I never know when he is going to demand our son be in his mother's care and whether I will be subjected to his threats and abuse."
DDG and Halle Bailey publicly broke up in October 2024, a year after they welcomed their son, Halo, together.
"I have tried everything possible to avoid going to court," says Halle Bailey
She also expressed her hope for a peaceful resolution for the sake of their child. When talking about DDG's alleged abuse directed towards her, Halle Bailey said,
"I then stopped fighting back as I was in a lot of pain. Darryl lacks an understanding of how his actions impact Halo. He is often verbally abusive towards me in front of Halo."
She went on to give examples of multiple other altercations between the two, including a "threatening text" she received from DDG in March, after he allegedly entered her home during her absence. Days later, DDG allegedly locked Halle out of her home, stole her phone, and drove away while throwing her phone out of the window.
In the recent court documents for a restraining order request, which was filed and granted on May 13, Halle Bailey mentioned that she tried to pacify the situation between her and DDG despite reported physical abuse.
"I have done everything possible to avoid going to court. I have tried to placate Darryl by providing him access to Halo, even though he is not with Halo and often leaves Halo with his Mother. I have facilitated his visits, no matter where I am and often last minute. I realize that there is no placating Darryl. I cannot allow this abuse any longer. I cannot keep living like this."
Bailey's reported restraining order request comes months after DDG released his song Don't Take My Son on March 8, 2025, where he accused Bailey of not letting him spend time with their son, Halo.
